The Medical Science Liaison/Sr. Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific expert responsible for communicating with various internal and external stakeholders, providing medical and scientific information and advancing therapeutic disease state knowledge. The MSL/Sr. MSL is a core member of the Medical Affairs Team leveraging a scientific approach aligned with medical affairs objectives and medical plan.

 

The MSL/Sr. MSL will be experienced working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment, specifically with product launch planning. This includes developing and executing a comprehensive territory medical plan, attending conferences, delivering scientific presentations, and scientific exchange with key opinion leaders and other healthcare providers. This role will be critical to cultivating relationships and establishing professional collaborations with academic researchers, therapeutic area leaders, relevant research centers, organizations, and clinical care teams.

 

This position reports to the Executive Director, Field Medical Affairs and will require extensive travel, sometimes involving weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain peer-to-peer collaborations and relationships with KOLs
  • Serve as scientific peer-to-peer resource to external disease experts and internal stakeholders
  • Support the medical community with up-to-date medical information, robust disease expertise, and product information
  • Collaborate with medical affairs management on internal initiatives including publications, advisory boards, medical education opportunities, training, and speaker development
  • Attend national and regional medical meetings and symposia as a representative of NewAmsterdam Pharma and engages in discussions with attendees as appropriate, staff medical booth when necessary
  • Deliver fair-balanced and objective clinical and scientific presentations to healthcare professionals (HCPs) and payors in response to unsolicited requests for information on the use of company products
  • Identify and train speakers for advisory boards, symposia, and educational programs with regulatory-approved materials, slide sets, abstracts, posters, etc.
  • Train internal stakeholders on key scientific and medical topics in relevant therapeutic area
  • Communicate clinical insights on new data, competitive information and disease landscape shifts to internal stakeholders and informs medical strategy
  • Facilitate the identification and execution of strategically aligned investigator initiated studies, per company policy
  • Support clinical development initiatives including site identification, trial recruitment, registry, and presentation of final approved data
  • Maintain a thorough awareness of medical/clinical, regulatory, compliance, and quality issues and processes and supports the standards established by the company

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates with a PharmD, Ph.D., MD, as well as other advanced healthcare degrees or relevant experience, will be considered
  • 3+ years of medical affairs or field medical experience with a verifiable record of high performance
  • Prior experience in cardiology, lipidology, endocrinology is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills (including networking)
  • Able to participate in a scientific dialogue with KOLs and researchers
  • Excellent teaching skills and ability to present and discuss scientific material clearly and concisely
  • Proven ability to create and sustain relationships with industry leaders
  • Skilled in clinical research and an understanding of the process of pharmaceutical product development and approval
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and work effectively with minimal supervision in a constantly changing environment
  • Travel 50-60% of the time depending on territory size; evening and weekend work will be involved with some variation based upon the demands of the business imperatives
  • Located in Mid Atlantic Territory (SC, NC, VA, MD, DE)
