The Head of Market Access and Patient Services is responsible for building, leading and executing the market access and patient services strategy for NewAmsterdam Pharma. This position is accountable for NAP’s market access strategy, inclusive of product launch plans, pricing, reimbursement, and contracting, trade operations as well as the design and implementation of patient services.
This senior leader will bring their extensive market access experience to our initial product launch (pending regulatory approval) and will be responsible for developing U.S. and global market access and patient services strategies, with an initial focus on launch readiness and commercialization of our lead asset, Obicetrapib. This position is a member of the commercial leadership team and reports to the Chief Commercial Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive market access strategy, including pricing, reimbursement, and payer engagement, to support the launch and lifecycle management of NAP’s product(s)
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to leverage and implement reimbursement, managed care, payer, and healthcare policies that ensure attainment of managed markets business objectives
- Develop managed market pricing strategies consistent with customer and market indications and the overall portfolio targeting long-term commercial success
- Design and drive NAP's development of market access capabilities within the US and globally, including account management, patient access programs, trade and distribution, pricing & contracting for optimal reimbursement and market penetration
- Lead the development and execution of distribution and channel strategies to ensure timely, compliant, and efficient delivery of products to customers and patients
- Collaborate with Medical Affairs and HEOR team members to ensure the creation of a clinical value proposition for NAP products incorporating differentiating and compelling product data to optimize product value
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, finance, marketing, and sales, to align market access strategies with business objectives
- Provide guidance to the NAP executive team on market access strategies and tactics
- Build and lead a team of professionals in the market access, patient services, trade and reimbursement functions
- Oversee patient services and affordability programs to ensure patients have access to NAP’s products and support services
- Develop and manage departmental budgets ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve strategic objectives
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures, US and applicable global healthcare laws and regulations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA, PharmD, or advanced degree preferred
- 15+ years of experience in market access, pricing, reimbursement, or related roles within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, with at least 7 years in a leadership position
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. and global market access environments, including payer systems, pricing strategies, and reimbursement processes
- Leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to manage and develop high-performing teams
- Proven track record of successful market access strategies, pricing and reimbursement and trade initiatives
- Demonstrated established relationships with payers (commercial/government), distribution and trade (3PL, wholesale, specialty pharmacy), physician networks, and healthcare systems
- Deep understanding of the healthcare landscape, including payer regulations, reimbursement mechanisms, and market dynamics
- Proven experience in negotiating complex payer contracts and securing favorable reimbursement rates
- Experience with digital health technologies and their application in the commercial business
- Ability to positively position a new company in the managed care sector to achieve top pharma image
- Possesses a good blend of strategic and operational experience with the ability to see the big picture and strong attention to detail
- Possesses strong executive presence, excellent communication, and negotiation skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment - Flexible, adaptable, diplomatic, and able to effectively deal with ambiguity
- Reside in northeast, USA; remote position with travel required based on business need
