Job Description

This position is for full-stack developers with quickly demonstrable aptitude for building retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) workflows using large language models (LLMs).

Compensation

Starting between $210k-$350k per year plus stock options, depending on experience and your preference of cash vs equity vesting over 5 years, along with healthcare benefits. Raises may also become available with good individual performance or team-wide accomplishments that expand our revenue stream. We also offer a Safe-Harbor 401(k) with the IRS maximum employer matching.

Location

Berkeley / SF bay area. We work in-person at our office in Berkeley for three days per week, and on other days we have the option of working from the office or from home. Fully remote work may be an option for very strong candidates.

Qualifications

In this role we need candidates with:

  • Strong full-stack web development experience; and
  • Demonstrable ability to develop retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) workflows with LLMs. This means either prior experience with RAG development, or the ability to quickly and independently skill up on RAG development prior to interviewing.

We generally require candidates who have received a Bachelor’s degree or above in computer science, physics, mathematics, or a closely related field, but could make exceptions for candidates with an established professional track record.

The following are not required, but our team will welcome and make good use of experience with:

  • training, fine-tuning, and evaluating LLMs, and/or development of commercially scaled LLM products,
  • statistical know-how sufficient to write critical evaluations of published research papers,
  • personal or professional engagement in medical research,
  • working in the healthcare industry,
  • machine learning interpretability research and/or debugging tools, and/or
  • PhD-level research and writing.
