About The Opportunity
WeWork is seeking a proactive self-starter who enjoys working in a challenging and fast-paced environment to support the Accounting Team with a focus on Fixed Assets/Construction and Operating Expense Accounting. The Senior Lead Accountant will be a key player in the month-end financial close as well as have an opportunity to grow within a dynamic finance organization.
The Senior Lead Accountant will report to the Opex and Fixed Assets Accounting Senior Manager. The Accounting team drives the month end close process, is responsible for the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements and plays an essential role in the overall finance organization.
Key Responsibilities:
● Assist with the monthly financial close by preparing account schedules, submitting journal entries and working cross functionally with other internal stakeholders to obtain relevant information
● Perform analytics on various income statement & balance sheet accounts to review monthly operating expenses and construction costs
● Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and supporting schedules, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of applicable ledger accounts
● Support the year-end financial statement audit and quarterly reviews including internal audit and SOX requests
● Assist the Senior Manager in developing the processes and controls needed to operate effectively while managing risk
● Support the Senior Manager with various ad-hoc analyses and management reporting, specifically performing and developing analytics on operating expenses on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
● Collaborate and formulate working relationships with cross-functional teams including Finance, Building Operations, Construction Operations and Legal within WeWork
Job Requirements:
● 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience - public accounting experience preferred
● Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
● CPA (or CPA track) preferred
● Proficient with MS Office with advanced excel skills and the ability to manipulate large data sets (VLOOKUP, Sum-Ifs, Pivot tables, etc.)
● Strong working knowledge of accounting theory and application of US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
● Excellent communication skills; proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external business partners at various levels
● Problem solver with strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities while meeting deadlines
● Familiarity with analytical process automation specifically Alteryx a plus
● Working knowledge of Workday a plus
