We are looking for a Financial Reporting Staff Accountant. As a Financial Reporting Staff Accountant, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world’s best quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems. 

In this role, you will work closely with the Financial Reporting team to prepare the Company’s SEC filings and support financial statement disclosures. You will also assist in supporting the external quarterly reviews and year-end audit, participate in equity, warrants and investment accounting and assist in special projects as needed. A successful candidate will have knowledge of SEC disclosure rules and requirements and be able to apply accounting knowledge, critical thinking, and analytical skills to be a part of a dynamic, first class, highly scalable and efficient financial reporting team for a high-growth, high-tech company. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with the preparation of the Company’s SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K quarterly earnings release
  • Prepare schedules to support financial statements disclosures and ensure the accuracy of the Company’s financial statements, including performing key analytical reviews and coordinating with various teams and subsidiaries across the Company
  • Prepare required schedules to support the quarterly reviews and the annual audit with the Company’s external auditors
  • Compile data to support the quarterly equity rollforward and earnings per share calculations
  • Prepare the monthly and quarterly journal entries and account reconciliations for equity, warrants and investments
  • Research accounting guidance and disclosure requirements for significant accounting transactions and issues
  • Coordinate with cross functional teams, including Legal and Payroll, to assist with inputting, processing, and reconciling equity data within the equity platform
  • Perform Sarbanes-Oxley key controls in a timely manner when implemented
  • Design processes to make all procedures more efficient and accurate, including identifying opportunities for automation and developing processes to support Company growth
  • Perform procedures to assist with the implementation of new systems and technology 
  • Provide backup support for other positions within the department as needed
  • Support the Financial Reporting Team in special projects as needed

You’d be a good fit with: 

  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance
  • 1-2 years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong analytical and organizational and presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage deadline requirements and multi-task projects
  • High competency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

You’d be a great fit with: 

  • CPA preferred
  • SEC reporting experience preferred
  • Experience with a Big Four accounting firm or other national accounting firm is preferred
  • Strong desire and ability to develop new skills quickly in a fast-paced, high-volume environment to continuously improve processes
  • Willingness to take on challenges and think constructively to solve problems

Location: This role is based at our office in College Park, MD, with the option to work remotely most days. The expectation is to come in to the office a few days per month.

The approximate base salary range for this position is $71,300 - $92,978. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, and equity.

Compensation will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available. Beyond base salary, total compensation includes a variable bonus and equity component and a range of benefit options found on our career site at ionq.co/jobs.  Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided when a candidate receives an offer of employment. IonQ's HQ is located in College Park, Maryland, just outside of Washington DC. We are actively building out our recently opened manufacturing and production facility in Bothell, WA (near Seattle). Depending on the position, you may be required to be near one of our offices in College Park, Seattle, Toronto, Canada, and Basel, Switzerland.
