Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all. We’re searching for an Engineering Technician. This team member will help Aurora’s machine shop to design and fabricate parts used in vehicle builds for our autonomous fleet.

In this role, you will

  • Work with the machine shop manager to continually review and improve shop practices and efficiency 
  • Maintain and repair equipment as necessary, implement upgrades
  • Maintain inventory of metals, equipment, machine parts, hand tools, and daily shop consumables
  • Order all supplies, consumables, and material
  • Help maintain monthly/yearly maintenance schedules of all shop equipment
  • Package and ship finished parts to all departments of Aurora and local service providers
  • Produce engineered drawings
  • Design parts/fixtures to fabricate
  • Document fixtures, designs, processes created in the machine shop to archive for later use in PDM software
  • Operate machinery/WaterJet as needed to facilitate ever changing workload

Required Qualifications

  • General understanding of fabrication equipment
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software, SolidWorks and/or Catia preferred
  • Unyielding dedication to safety and able to positively represent the company’s safety culture
  • Knowledge on the use of basic hand tools and finishing equipment
  • Knack for rebuilding and troubleshooting mechanical components
  • Certified in operating a forklift 
  • Highly organized and creative problem solver
  • Capable of working independently to quickly overcome challenges without supervision
  • Proficient in communicating with other technicians and engineers
  • Ability to lift 30-40 pounds

The hourly range for this position is $34.75-$48.50 per hour.  Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
