Position Overview: 

The Senior Merchandiser is a member of the Merchandising team and will focus on the Yellow Rose brand for Kendra Scott.  This role reports to the Director of Merchandising and works closely and collaborates with the Senior Vice President of Design and the Senior Brand Director of Yellow Rose. This is an exempt, salaried position whose primary responsibility is to develop merchandising product strategies and assortment plans that meet the aesthetic intent of the Yellow Rose brand.  Driving exciting and timely product assortments that will maximize sales, profits and support overall brand positioning will be critical to success. The Senior Merchandiser is responsible for the positioning of all categories associated with the Yellow Rose brand and is expected to use their industry knowledge and aesthetic understanding of the brand to drive initiatives. 


Responsibilities: 


Product Assortment Planning and Execution 

  • Drive the development of seasonal line plans and recommended product assortments that will drive brand awareness, maximize sales and profit, meet customer demand and support overall brand positioning across all channels created for the business 

  • Manage multiple assortments across multiple categories simultaneously while maintaining a holistic view and tracking towards the financial objectives for Yellow Rose 

  • Along with Sourcing partners, research and develop new wholesale suppliers & partners as the brand and category building evolves 

  • Responsible for assortment specific strategy preparation for each owned category, including launch document content creation, key item identification and style ranking  

  • Focus on connecting with and developing customer intimacy skills through regular store visits and competitive shopping; apply findings to merchandising and execution strategies 

  • Communicate and distribute all critical merchandising information to key functional areas on a timely basis 

  • Clearly articulate and drive process for product and launch priorities within the Product Lifecycle Calendar to cross functional partners  

  • Responsible for line maintenance across all channels including assortment sheet maintenance, adds/drops, exclusive product identification and retail pricing  

  • Create a clear pricing structure that ties perceived value, quality and competitive retail pricing 

  • Analyze in-season performance to the program level, proactively identify and report forward-looking risks and/or opportunities 

 

Cross Functional Partnership 

  • Work cross functionally to ensure all merchandising initiatives and calendar dates align with Development, Planning, Production, Fulfillment, Design, Visual Merchandising and Marketing counterparts 

  • Develop line plans and collaborate with Design to effectively combine merchandising strategy with creative strategy to build assortments that achieve sales and brand goals 

  • Partner with Planning on investment strategies to ensure proper assortment  

  • Collaborate with Planning to determine promotional strategy and calendar that compliments overarching product and launch priorities 

  • Drive influence across all functional teams and senior leadership to ensure alignment on merchandising strategies and timeline 

  • Peak awareness of cross functional impact on all decision making and communicate accordingly 

  • Inspires own team and cross functional teams to achieve objectives and goals 

  • Support cross functional teams by providing key information for Wholesale brands & samples to drive all photo shoots, ecommerce, retail training & visual merchandise experience needs  

 

Financial Metrics & Reporting 

  • Generate and share weekly report within the Merchandising team to include actionable takeaways and risk/opportunity assessment from a trend, financial and brand perspective 

  • Partner with Planning team to establish financial expectations, customer choice targets and liquidation strategies for owned categories 

  • Proactively monitor product and category performance, recommending new strategies to drive business performance  

  • Ensure clear, 360-degree communication with CFTs through reporting on current in season business, identifying channel specific risks and opportunities to drive business where necessary 

 

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • 10+ years’ experience in Retail Merchandising for a fast paced, sku intensive high-growth company 

  • Proven ability to execute with operational excellence and reprioritize based on evolving business needs  

  • Apparel experience with a focus on founder lead experience 

  • Jewelry, Accessories and Lifestyle experience preferred 

  • Proven track record growing new business categories from development to launch 

  • Ability to motivate, lead, manage, and develop direct reports and team 

  • Champion for customer 

  • Highly organized and detail oriented 

  • A strong ability to build cross functional partnerships and work collaboratively 

  • A growth mindset: desire to learn, grow and embrace new ideas
