About the role
- Forterra is actively looking for an experienced machine learning engineer to join our perception team. In this role, you will contribute to the development of cutting-edge perception solutions for autonomous systems working with heterogeneous sensors to tackle both structured on-road mobility and unstructured off-road mobility. The ideal candidate should possess a robust skill set, particularly in crafting high performance machine learning models and maintaining those models through real-world deployment life cycles.
What you'll do
- Work cross functionally to support the exploration and development of new state-of-the-art perception models
- Support on-going model lifecycle developments
- Maintain and improve our existing model training, testing and deployment infrastructure
Required Qualifications
- Strong programming experience in Python
- Experience developing modern machine learning algorithms for perception tasks
- Experience with developing and maintaining machine learning models in real world environments
- Experience with containerization tools
- Strong experience working on a software development team
- Ability to write clean, maintainable code and documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in cloud infrastructure and AWS in particular
- Experience with NVIDIA Jetson family of devices
- Experience with modern data workflow management frameworks like apache airflow, argo, or metaflow
- Experience with machine learning frameworks like pytorch
- Experience in production robotics is a plus
Education
- BS in computer science or a related field, or equivalent amount of relevant industry experience
- 3+ years of industry experience
US Salary Range
$115,000—$190,000 annually.
The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more. Equity in Forterra is included in most of our full-time, high-demand roles and is therefore considered part of Forterra’s overall compensation package.
