The role

The Principal People Business Partner at SoFi is a trusted resource for SoFi employees and the leadership team they support. In this role, you will cover a specific area of SoFi's business, providing guidance and thought leadership on all people related items. You will enable the business to make quick, well-informed and data driven decisions. Another focus will be championing inclusion, diversity of opinions and people, and helping leaders to become more conscious in these efforts.

What you’ll do:

  • Serve as a trusted business partner, providing thought leadership on organizational and people-related strategy and execution
  • Partner with your business leaders to roll out all key people processes across their function(s) (performance management, compensation, benefits, development programs, etc.)
  • Be an objective resource and advocate, balancing the needs of the business and the employee population
  • Solve problems and get to the root cause of any issue. Design and quickly implement solutions that cut across multiple disciplines, even those beyond people and organizational solutions
  • Manage employee relations issues with discretion and finesse while coaching and facilitating feedback
  • Understand when to use data to identify and surface trends; ultimately improving organizational health
  • Serve as a culture driver; live the SoFi values
  • Build strong relationships through effective communication and collaboration with all levels of stakeholders
  • Be informed and knowledgeable about our business
  • Maintain in depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance

What you’ll need:

  • 8+ years working in a Human Resources or People function with specific experience supporting executive leadership in Engineering and Product Management
  • Progressive HR / People experience working in dynamic environments requiring a range of strategic expertise, leadership coaching and the proven ability and interest to be hands-on.
  • Strong understanding across HR / People domains including compensation, performance management, employee engagement, employee relations, and diversity and inclusion
  • BA/BS degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Proven ability to lead and influence all levels within the organization
  • Experience building strong rapport and relationships with the ability to adapt to various styles and situations, tailoring message to all levels and audience while breaking down barriers while using discretion
  • Experience as a Leadership Coach; developing leaders, influencing action and accountability and connecting stakeholders with varying interests 
  • The ability to solve complex problems in a scalable way
  • Agility; the ability to be flexible, adaptable and resilient
  • Strong communication skills: written and verbal

Nice to have:

  • Experience in a tech or software company 
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certifications
  • Workday experience
