What’s this role about?

As the Tax Manager at Auvik, you’ll help the Finance and Controller teams with all tax matters for our local and global entities. With the help of external advisors, you’ll be responsible for global reporting, compliance, and planning in the areas of corporate income tax; SR&ED and other government grants and credits; VAT, HST, and SUT; and the payroll tax implications of our evolving global strategies. 

What will I be doing?

  • Optimize corporate structure to align with and support Auvik’s expanding business operations
  • Own relationships with external tax advisors, consultants, and tax authorities to ensure global tax compliance for all Auvik legal entities, including corporate tax, employment taxes, and sales taxes
  • Manage SR&ED claims by working cross-functionally with the Engineering team
  • Effectively communicate tax objectives and strategies to company leadership
  • Support Auvik’s international expansion plans by understanding tax regimes in new jurisdictions and guiding strategies to minimize tax risk and costs, using external advisors where needed
  • Assist legal team with review of commercial contracts, with new and existing partners, to ensure multi-jurisdictional tax compliance
  • Work with external advisors to develop and manage a global transfer pricing program including regular monitoring
  • Own the company’s tax provision and related disclosures
  • Stay current with accounting and tax laws and regulations that affect income tax provision, income tax returns, and other compliance requirements
  • Oversee ad hoc tax matters such as CRA audits
  • Play a key role in planning for potential acquisitions
  • Lead corporate tax projects

What are we looking for?

  • Strong Canadian and international tax knowledge 
  • CPA designation 
  • Transfer pricing, indirect tax and/or US taxation experience is an asset
  • 10+ years post-university tax experience, preferably working with an international organization operating in multiple jurisdictions or in public practice
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills including the capacity to perform detailed analysis while understanding broader context and implications
  • Able to work independently and within cross-functional teams, managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive projects to completion
