Position: Research Associate, reporting to our VP, Research Science

Description:

Inozyme Pharma is looking for a talented Research Associate to join our dynamic research team. This individual will have a strong background and extensive hands-on experience in animal physiology and pharmacology and make significant contributions to preclinical studies to determine biodistribution, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties, mechanism of action and efficacy of novel therapeutics.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and perform tissue-based assays, including histology (H&E, von Kossa and other stains), immunohistochemistry (IHC) (single and multiplex), immunofluorescence (IF), and in situ hybridization (ISH) assays.
  • Assist in developing analysis parameters with qualitative and quantitative imaging technologies.
  • Assist in preclinical studies related to model development, animal dosing, monitoring, handling, necropsy, and tissue collection and preparation for histology, molecular and biochemical profiling.
  • Prepare DNA, RNA, protein extraction from harvested tissues.
  • Participate in creating and reviewing of study protocols, technical reports and data presentation.
  • Collect, QC and document accurate and detailed records/data from experiments.

Education/Qualifications:

  • B.SC or M.SC in Pharmacology, Veterinary science, Biology, or relevant science. We seek qualified candidates with a minimum of 3 years of related industry or academic experience.

Requirements:

  • Extensive hands-on experience with tissue handling, including processing for formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded and fresh frozen samples, sectioning.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with tissue-based assays including IHC, IF, ISH.
  • Familiarity with animal anatomy, and organ histology is highly desirable.
  • Experience with microscopy techniques and digital image analysis is desired.
  • Experience with assay development, optimization and troubleshooting is desired.
  • Experience in disease model development and pharmacology is a plus.

  • Highly self-motivated and enjoy trouble-shooting
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage priorities and maintain timelines for multiple projects
  • Strong attention to detail along with excellent written and verbal communication skills is essential
