The Engineering Director is a key leadership role within engineering and the wider Technology organisation at Aircall.

Working closely with other Engineering Directors and Product management, you will shape and deliver Aircall’s technical strategy in line with our business vision.

Providing day to day leadership and management for Engineering Managers, Leads and Engineers within your team you will act as an enabler for them to deliver high quality software using industry best practices.
 
The team is growing rapidly and recruitment of great software engineers and developing a growth mindset across the team will also be key as we scale.

Your mission @ Aircall:

        Provide leadership and management to engineering managers and across multiple sprint teams (c50 to 100 engineers) to effectively enable delivery against our strategic and tactical commitments.
        Work with other engineering directors and the wider Engineering organisation to define, communicate and implement, strategy, standards and best practices, organizational roadmap and recruitment targets.
        Ensure the continued growth of the team through training, coaching, mentoring and identifying situational opportunities for our existing engineers and by hiring new talent in line with the business growth expectations.
        Participate in requirements analysis to help with providing the right technical and business solutions for our customers, providing leadership within the design, architecture, and end-to-end delivery of the overall system and its key modules.
        Be part of an engineering organization delivering high quality, secure, voice solutions to Aircall clients.
        Ensure accurate reporting against key deliverables and team metrics.
        Foster an environment that motivates the teams to embrace the Aircall values allowing the teams to continually deliver high quality products and innovate in order to meet the expectations of our customers.

A little about you:

        5+ years experience working as an Engineering Director leading distributed teams of 50+ engineers organised with a multi level hierarchy (multiple Engineering Managers and their teams)
        At least 10+ years of experience within engineering with a focus on product delivery
        Responsible and accountable for multiple sprint teams, and their deliveries, ensuring that the output follows standards and best practices for security, scalability, availability, and performance
        Significant team-building experience in fast growing companies, with the ability to plan and respond to resourcing requirements, in line with business and team member expectations
        Provide technical leadership and, working with product managers, be able to naturally balance and prioritise feature delivery, with the management of debt and legacy code, with identification and mitigation of technical risk according to business needs
        Effective and proactive communication skills, able to collaborate at different levels , from junior to senior, tech to business
        Experience working with Agile teams and look for and implement  continuous improvement, but you also appreciate good process and quality assurance in mitigating risk and improving quality.
        Extensive experience with cloud technologies in a production environment and understanding on how to get the best out of the environment and services available, using modern software engineering practices (agile, devOps etc).
        Worked with other Engineering Directors to provide leadership, technical strategy and direction for Engineering.
