Monzo is the fastest growing bank in the UK and we’ve only just begun. 

We’re looking for an experienced strategy expert to continue to build our Operations Strategy Team at Monzo. You’ll be responsible for planning, setting and reviewing our award winning customer operations strategy and target operating model. Your data proficiency will be key to your success.

We’d love it if you have experience collaborating with a wide variety of teams, including engineering, product, risk & compliance and executive leaders. You should think critically and from first principles, and be able to work with a number of leaders across the organisation to make sure we have a strong strategy that meets the targets and goals of the organisation. You’ll need to gain company-wide support and integration to make sure the programmes are delivered. You’ll be someone who’s receptive to feedback and will be constantly striving to define our strategy for Operations and what that means to Monzo.

The role 

As part of this role you'll:

  • Be a key stakeholder in defining the Operation team strategy across several areas.
  • Designing, building and delivering an operations strategy that aligns with the business goa
  • Creating the muscle for building a 2-5 year strategic approach for Monzo. Working with our leadership team to define goals, align initiatives, understand our strategic risks and opportunities as a bank and as a collective; aligning with areas such as product, Customer Operations, assurance, engineering and risk and control teams
  • Developing and providing reporting to the financial planning and analysis team and working with them to deliver a high degree of forecast accuracy
  • Delivering special projects, usually commercially focussed, that require business analyst skills

You should apply if:

  • You have multiple years of experience in operational strategy, including cost optimisation and OKRs setting / tracking
  • You have extensive experience performing with data analysis and able to translate it into clear presentations, business cases and other documents aimed at senior management (SQL skills are a must)
  • You have experience working together and collaborating cross functionally with frontline teams, product teams and senior business stakeholders
  • You are remarkably organised and enjoy building tools to facilitate other your and your team members work
  • You are passionate about reducing financial services and our mission to make money work for everyone
  • You have a proven record of shaping strategies that have resulted in measurable and commercially relevant successes and/or reduction in risk
  • You are a proven leader with great stakeholder management skills, including influencing and helping others make tough tradeoffs

Experience in financial services, banking or a high growth startup would be a bonus but is not essential for this role. We encourage people with diverse backgrounds and from industries other than finance to apply. Even better if: 

  • Experience defining Target Operating Models for large scale organisations
  • Experience with Outsourced Services (including RFI/RFP processes management)
  • You have worked within banking or financial services previously so understand the regulatory landscape and the three lines of defence operating model
  • You’ve worked in a progressive Tech business previously

This role is ideally based in our London office.
