Miroculus, a Stanford StartX company, provides hands off sample-to-answer solutions for molecular testing.

We leverage a proprietary digital microfluidics technology (also known as electrowetting) to automate manually intensive experimental workflows on a low cost cartridge.

Job Description

Miroculus is looking for a motivated Systems Integration Quality Assurance to help us develop our novel digital microfluidics platform by performing tests, analysis, troubleshooting, and system quality assurance.

Position Summary

  • Develop test and measurement methodology for the characterization of microfluidics technology and processes.
  • Quality assurance for SW, FW and workflow automation updates.
  • Confirm and document issues and communicate with our Product Development team.
  • Participate in the design, execution, analysis and presentation of experiments to measure specific system performance parameters.
  • Participate in hardware/software/firmware integration testing, performance characterization, requirements analysis, test design and test execution.
  • Design, plan, and conduct screening and troubleshooting experiments to assess the technical capability, feasibility, and performance of microfluidics platform components.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement.

This position reports to the Systems Integration Lead.


  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or related Scientific / Engineering discipline, with at least 3 years of experience in quality assurance
  • Experience developing and optimizing laboratory automation or analysis solutions
  • Proven knowledge of core QA methodologies, including creation of test plans and test cases, authoring documentation, problem isolation techniques, regression testing, adhoc testing, and systems integration testing
  • Proven ability to accurately collect and track testing data, and to assist developers and project leads in gauging project impact
  • Understanding of QA process for software development, debugging and release
  • Demonstrate ability to understand and successfully work across multiple disciplines such as engineering, software, and assay/workflow development
  • Proven abilities to take initiative and to be innovative; have an analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
  • Meticulous attention to detail and excellent written and electronic record keeping skills
  • Team focused and self-motivated.  Able to work as part of a coordinated team, yet independently when necessary.

Strong plus:

  • Experience developing workflows for microfluidic systems or liquid handling robots
  • Experience coding and using QA software tools and processes
  • Knowledge of NGS sample preparation methodsFamiliarity with a wide range of analysis and automation instruments
