About the Role
Eightfold Value Consulting is tasked with developing and leading the value selling efforts with prospects and customers. Value Consultants help create a broad portfolio of offerings tailored to support specific sales opportunities by working with the sales teams and prospective/existing customers in a collaborative way. Key goals of the team are to accelerate and grow software sales revenue for Eightfold and to become trusted advisors internally at Eightfold and externally with customers.
The Principal Value Consult (PVC) will support the sales teams in customer-facing, deal-focused projects. PVC is expected to act autonomously in all phases of the value lifecycle: demand generation, project planning, execution, deliverable preparation, presenting to executives and long-term account support. The PVC is expected to manage related-activities strategically to support and influence the overall deal by leveraging extensive experience. Up to 40% travel is expected.
High-Level Responsibilities:  
  • Champion the value selling concept throughout Eightfold and at its customers
  • Act as a thought leader and strategic advisor on sales opportunities to develop business cases, outside-in analyses and other deal support material
  • Engage with customers and prospects to define, measure and deliver Eightfold’s value proposition through research, discovery, benchmarking and related deliverables
  • Partner with and train AEs to develop account strategies that involve design thinking principles
  • Research customers and prospects to understand business drivers, initiatives and challenges to develop problem statement and synthetize this information to drive deal strategy and value selling across the sales team
  • Ties Eightfold’s capabilities to problem statement to develop value themes and engage with senior leadership at the prospect
  • Become a trusted advisor to senior-level staff at customers and prospects to ensure the success of Eightfold projects and long-term partnerships
  • Coach/mentor other Eightfolders on value selling, presentation skills and delivery techniques
  • Lead/participate in value realization studies to ensure that customers are obtaining the value that is predicted during the initial sales cycle
  • Support a variety of pre-sales activities including Quarterly Business Reviews, customer information events and trade shows
  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance or a related field. MBA preferred
  • 10+ years to total work experience with executive-level exposure
  • 3+ years prior experience in value selling or supporting a commissioned technology sales force. Experience in the software industry is highly preferred
  • Experience in business-to-business customer-facing project work with a proven track record of successful engagements. Experience in a management consulting organization is a plus
  • Extremely strong communication skills and professional demeanor in written, phone and face-to-face interactions
  • High level of comfort communicating using PowerPoint documents is a must
  • Ability to perform some tasks in the sales cycle that may be normally performed by commissioned sales reps and solution engineers (not including price negotiations)
  • Strong understanding of the software sales cycle and a general understanding of sales strategy. Good understanding of the role of IT in business
  • Excellent relationship-building skills; ability to build meaningful business relationships with clients, as well as with Eightfold’s internal company network
  • Strong project management and analytic skills, including financial analysis and benchmarking
  • Empathetic, persistent and dependable, especially with attendance, deliverables and deadlines; able to manage multiple competing priorities and work effectively against hard deadlines
  • Able to adapt to a constantly changing environment; flexibility to work extended hours during peak periods, if needed
  • Fluency in spoken and written English required. Additional language skills are highly desired
