About the Role

As a Senior Database Administrator you will be working with Lending Club’s Engineering, Operations, Data teams to develop, manage, govern and maintain Oracle, AWS RDS (Aurora MySQL, Oracle) , MySQL and Mongo databases. The position requires thorough working knowledge of the Oracle internals, AWS RDS (Oracle and Aurora MySQL) Internals, SQL performance, database performance, capacity planning, installation, integration, configuration, database design, migration, security, troubleshooting, upgrades, refreshes and backup & recovery.

You will be working closely with the Engineering, DevOps and infrastructure teams in maintaining a reliable environment around systems hardware and operating systems server software.

What You'll Do

  • Design, Configure and Maintain AWS RDS hosted Aurora, Oracle and MySQL databases
  • Establish and maintain sound recovery and backup policies and procedures 
  • Design, Installation, configuration, patching and upgrading of Oracle 19C database server software and related products.
  • Experience with performance diagnostics, performance tuning, including analysis, hints, profiles and baselines
  • Solid scripting skills using Shell, Python. 
  • Develop data migration plans to migrate legacy on-premises databases into AWS infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges), establish procedures to apply most recent Critical Patch Updates to the databases. 
  • Ensure data integrity and availability 
  • Establish and execute periodic disaster recovery testing 
  • Capacity planning, Database licensing, security, and encryption  
  • Evaluation of database features and database related products 
  • Setup and maintain documentation and standards

About You

  • 7+ years of Database Administration experience with a record of progressive career growth 
  • Experience with managing Oracle 19C Database in Linux environments 
  • Experience with managing AWS RDS Aurora and RDS Oracle environments.
  • Experience with Oracle database products such as Real Application Clusters (RAC), Active Data Guard, GoldenGate and OEM
  • Experience migrating On-prem Oracle databases to AWS Cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience on Oracle RAC production DBA activities at server level Installs, configures and administers database management clustered systems utilities and tools 
  • Experience troubleshooting, identifying and tuning performance issues 
  • Extensive experience with Database troubleshooting and root cause analysis 
  • Work as part of a team and provide 24x7 support when required 
  • Proven ability to work business requirements into solutions that map to technology capabilities and integration with existing infrastructure 
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation) skills, and advanced problem-solving orientation and decision-making skills. Proven ability to develop, present and justify positions to all levels within the company. 
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and production incidents simultaneously 
  • Work within a team environment, manage systems, lead upgrades, coordinate installs and work from a ticketing queue. 
  • Understanding of key compliance regulations (SOC/PCI), financial and IT risk management and mitigation controls. 
  • Oracle Security and Compliance knowledge in financial institution a plus 
  • Familiarity with Agile practices a plus
