Job Description

The VP of Government Affairs and Health Policy will have overall responsibility to develop, implement and manage Scipher Medicine’s policy and partnerships strategy. This position organizes, plans, and executes partnerships with government agencies, industry partners, and policy coalitions to achieve Scipher’s market access goals. In collaboration with the leadership team, this position is also responsible for building out Scipher’s network of Congressional contacts as well as running regular communications for Scipher’s Advisory Board. The position is also responsible for the maintenance of existing relationships with patient, physician, and payer advocacy organizations.

 

What will I do?

  • Lead the development of policy and advocacy programs strongly linked to Scipher’s business strategy.
  • Work with state and federal government representatives to raise awareness of and improve access to Scipher’s technology.
  • Represent Scipher at regulatory, legislative, and policy coalition meetings to advance Scipher’s policy priorities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the company’s executive management team regarding policy issues and strategy such as step therapy, surprise billing, and LDT reform. Provide recommendations for policy action to executive team.
  • Manage communications, presentations, and growth of the Scipher Advisory Board.
  • Establish partnerships with relevant stakeholders to help achieve physician and patient recruitment targets.
  • Serve as a spokesperson and lead point person on Scipher’s policy interactions that help promote and/or impact the organization.

 

Minimum Education and Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Advertising/Public Relations or related field required.
  • 3+ years of successful work experience in healthcare policy or public relations roles
  • Preferred Skills and Competencies:
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a policy strategy within a business environment including internal and external audiences.
  • Collaborative team player able to influence thinking, forge strategic alliances and build consensus to drive results.
  • Excellent writing, editing, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to produce clear, compelling and motivating communications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and balance / manage multiple, changing priorities.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the use of Excel
