Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Cloud Operations Engineer to help us design, deploy, operate and securely maintain Yellowbrick Cloud Operations. You will be part of the Cloud Operations team, whose job is to design, deploy, secure and sustain cloud operations for the global Yellowbrick Cloud Data Warehouse services, both for physical Yellowbrick appliances and public cloud kubernetes clusters. 

This person will be responsible for ensuring stable and resilient cloud operations for Yellowbrick cloud facing services.  A critical focus on Cloud DevOps capabilities and services is required to supporting mission critical customer workloads around the clock.  We seek a talented individual with the ability to excel at both individual contributions, enterprise delivery, and service leadership. Work directly with enterprise technology and cloud design teams to ensure optimal cloud services designs enabling scale, reliability, resiliency, performance, and security.  Resolve cloud service incidents with an intense focus on complete resolution, with rotating on-call duties.


Requirements of the Role

  • Design, deploy, administer, and support enterprise wide cloud services for both internal and customer facing services in major public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Manage all services required to onboard, deploy, scale, and maintain customer services for both a cloud hosted database service and a cloud native kubernetes container based database service.
  • Iterate improvement in a highly agile hybrid cloud environment, with measurable success improving delivery, quality, and reliability.
  • Ensure accurate service reporting and communications to customers within SLA’s.
  • Maintain a rigorous approach to service reviews, testing, security, and compliance throughout the environment.
  • Ensure performance via thorough functional regression, load/performance testing, and complete system end to end testing.
  • Collaborate with product and service development teams as appropriate on issues, improvements, releases, and innovation (CI/CD).
  • Drive improvements to customer services through constant attention to detail and benchmarking against comparable services.
  • Continual cross-training, reviews, and measurement of service performance across service landscapes with customer support teams.
  • Ensure support for all internal stacks, cloud environments and integration services in a highly secure environment.
  • Respond to all cloud service issues with clear communications, technical creativity, and a commitment to problem resolution.
  • Work with cross functional teams to analyze cloud issues and incidents, determine root cause, and recommend solutions.
  • Respond to internal and customer initiated cloud compliance and security reviews and audits.


Qualifications of the Role 

  • BS/MS Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent professional experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in technology design, architecture, development, and operations in both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • 5+ years prior responsibility for operating mission critical systems, platforms, integrations, databases, and services in both internal and customer facing environments.
  • 3+ years DevOps experience with one or more major cloud platforms. Multi-cloud and/or hybrid cloud deployment experience a plus.
  • 3+ years full stack monitoring experience with a modern analytics platform such as Splunk, ELK, Datadog, logger, syslog-ng, Prometheus/Grafana. Kubernetes monitoring experience a plus.
  • Solid understanding of, and the ability to troubleshoot IP network related issues.
  • Strong discipline around documentation of the entire environment
  • Ability to identify and monitor new KPI’s for the continual improvement of existing processes and environments with a focus on achieving operational excellence.
  • Automated Configuration Management coding experience with one or more major platform: Ansible, Terraform, OpsWorks, Chef, Puppet
  • Managed source control service experience with Git, Bitbucket, AWS Code Commit, or equivalent
  • Thorough knowledge of modern development stacks, operational models, and data architectures
  • Prior experience in high security regulated environments (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2, ISO, SOX, PCI, GDPR, FISMA, FedRAMP).
  • Start-up environment experience is preferred. Experience in a fast-paced, high tech or related company undergoing rapid change and growth is essential.
  • Prior specific experience with customer services, system integration, data center operations, cloud services, performance analysis, SLA reporting is a plus.
  • Experience Strong interpersonal skills with a track record of building strong, collaborative relationships with multiple stakeholders and external customers.

  • Detailed and proactive, high productive and effective, and perform your duties with flexibility and enthusiasm.
  • Manage multiple tasks and set priorities with a focus on customer satisfaction.
