About the role:

We are looking for a Marketing Compliance Associate to join our growing Compliance team. In this role you will help to coordinate Current’s overall compliance with applicable state and federal rules, regulations and statutory requirements, specifically relating to marketing and advertising. As the first point of contact for marketing and advertising compliance, you will work cross-functionally within our organization, with third parties and partner banks as needed, to ensure that Current’s marketing strategy conforms to rules, regulations, and internal compliance controls.


  • Conduct research and analysis of federal, state and local regulations affecting the banking industry, as it relates to marketing and advertising.
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert of consumer laws and regulations related to marketing, advertising, promotions, giveaways, and sweepstakes.
  • Partner with Marketing and Growth teams by reviewing marketing and advertising copy for TV, radio, social media, print, or other mediums to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Articulate concerns, and where appropriate, provide alternative solutions to maintain strategic vision while meeting regulatory and partner bank requirements.
  • Oversee and develop internal documentation (policies, procedures, processes, and training) to provide a compliance framework for Marketing and Growth teams. Keep processes up-to-date and communicate changes cross-functionally.
  • Coordinate approval of marketing materials with partner banks and third party vendors, as required.
  • Assist in reviewing and editing responses to regulatory agency complaints, and spot opportunities for process or disclosure improvements.
  • Support the Compliance team on regulatory examinations, assessments, audits, and reporting requirements.
  • Track compliance issues to completion and ensure corrective actions have been implemented within specified timeframes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry-related laws, regulations, and trends.

About you:

  • 4 years of experience in a financial services, banking, legal, operational, or governmental role with a focus on marketing or advertising compliance.
  • Working knowledge of key regulations including Unfair, Deceptive, and Abusive Acts and Practices (UDAAP), Truth in Savings Act (Reg DD), Electronic Funds Transfer Act (Reg E), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCPA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Federal Trade Commission Guidance, and state-specific regulations.
  • Experience in researching, interpreting, and applying laws and regulations.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with key internal stakeholders, partner banks, and regulators.
  • Excellent oral communication skills, including the ability to present complex ideas in understandable and effective ways to other departments and functions.
