Moveworks is an AI startup that has doubled its revenue and customer base in each of the last three years, and is currently experiencing hyper growth. As our first, core HR Business Partner hire, this position will offer a rare opportunity to play an integral role in building and scaling the function as we continue to grow globally.

This is a high visibility position, internally. Our hyper growth presents an exciting and interesting challenge to scale people, processes, and develop management capability effectively, in a constantly evolving global business context. This role is ideal for someone with proven experience and a drive for rolling out well thought out and scalable initiatives. This hands-on role will initially focus on building quality people programs that scale with Moveworks’ growing population. However, serving as a trusted partner who can be a player-coach on all aspects of people management (such as performance management, leadership development, employee engagement, conflict resolution, employee relations, et al.) is just the beginning. In this role you eventually will grow to serve as an accountability partner to our managers and culture carrier to our people, especially our individual contributors. 

You will report to our Head of People Operations. The right candidate will have the opportunity to build the HRBP team by hiring, leading, and managing a team of future HR Generalists. 

The ideal candidate will be able and willing to commute into our Mountain View, CA office, once our office is open in June. No exceptions. You will also be expected to travel from time to time (up to 10% a year) to our other global office locations: Los Angeles, Austin, Toronto, London, and Bangalore.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Knowledgeable recall of federal, state, and international labor laws. 
  • Minimum of 7 years of HR business partner or HR generalist experience supporting leaders at fast-paced technology startups.
  • Demonstrated HR experience in employee relations, performance management, business consulting, compensation and rewards, recognition programs, employee engagement, coaching/development, talent management, conflict resolution, talent acquisition, data analysis, organizational design, and / or succession planning.

  • Able to operate at a tactical as well as strategic level.
  • A deep desire to learn, contribute, and add value every single day.
  • A positive, GTD, solutions-oriented attitude, paired with flawless execution.
  • Assertive, yet humble. Ability to overcome resistance and effectively manage change.
  • Ability to comfortably operate in ambiguity with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to work within constraints as well as to challenge the status quo, when and where appropriate.
  • Demonstrated project management and change management experience.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with senior leaders and a variety of stakeholders to drive organizational change.
  • Deep understanding of HR processes, especially hands-on experience in management / leadership development, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to analyze data, understand trends and develop recommendations for action based on the analysis.
  • Demonstrated advocacy of corporate culture and values.
  • Demonstrated history of partnering with business leaders to help them build their organizations and make sure all people-related decisions are based on data, and delivered with clarity and transparency.
  • Demonstrated history of partnering with a cross-functional group of subject matter experts to design and execute strategies.
