JOB SUMMARY:
 
Vir Biotechnology is seeking a Senior Director, Supply Chain to lead the company’s supply chain operations for our clinical and commercial product pipeline to ensure continuity and reliability of high-quality product supply. 
 
Reporting to the VP of Manufacturing and Supply Chain, you will develop and execute the supply chain strategies for each of our infectious disease therapeutic modalities: antibodies; cytomegalovirus (CMV) viral vectors; and siRNA. In this hands-on role you will have the ability to design, build, shape and implement supply chain strategy, planning, sourcing and distribution policies, processes, and systems for Vir’s pipeline products while building a high-performing team and overseeing all aspects of supplier management, supply chain logistics, and biorepository storage. You will work with Vir’s program teams, technical operations, procurement, alliance management, legal, and finance functions while collaborating with Vir’s network of business, funding (private foundations, governments, NGOs) and external manufacturing partners to creating supply strategies that ensure a reliable, high-quality supply of cGMP clinical products while preparing for commercialization. Within Vir, you will collaborate with colleagues in our Portland (OR), St. Louis (MO) and Bellinzona (Switzerland) R&D sites to ensure trade and regulatory compliance, and coordinate material procurement and logistics. 
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES:
 
* Build and lead a high-performing team of supply chain professionals to support external process development and clinical and commercial manufacturing. 
 
*  Establish and lead Vir’s supply strategies and network of suppliers for key raw materials, and third-party logistics services. 
 
* Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to select, establish contracts with and oversee external development and manufacturing partners and suppliers.
 
*  Build and lead robust end-to-end supply chain business processes including supply planning (S&OP), materials management, inventory management, logistics/distribution, and trade compliance.
 
*  Plan, coordinate, and lead all aspects of shipment of R&D, GMP materials with R&D sites team and CDMOs.
 
* Create and advance analytical capabilities and tools to shape our mid- to long-range clinical and commercial sourcing strategies, capacity plans, inventory strategies, and risk mitigation activities. 
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
 
*  Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or science discipline with a minimum of 15+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience. MBA preferable.
 
* Proven success in applying operations strategy, outsourcing, supply planning (S&OP), materials management, GMP manufacturing, and logistics experience to guide biologics programs through clinical development and commercialization.
 
* Successful track record in a similar role designing and implementing supply chain and operations management practices to support cGMP and GDP operations. 
 
*  Skilled at leading teams, gaining consensus, influencing outcomes, and collaborating effectively in a fast-paced cross-functional work environment.
 
*  Demonstrated business experience establishing contract manufacturing and services agreements and managing external manufacturing partners and suppliers. 
 
* Passionate for management of people and mentoring development.
