Job Description

In the past four years, Flock Freight has grown over 25 times in size and has become one of the largest startups in San Diego. We’ve done some of our best work in the midst of a global pandemic and even hired over 75 new team members during the crisis.

About the Role

Flock Freight is hiring a Strategic Solutions Lead who can confidently support the growth of our team and expand our unique service offering of shared truckload shipping. This individual will be front line support in the daily tactical operations of Flock’s pooling operations. For the Strategic Solutions Lead candidate to be a strong fit, they will have to possess strong attention to detail, critical thinking skills, remain highly organized and analytical, as well as have confidence in their decision making abilities. Being that this person will be a part of the leadership team, the right candidate must also be willing to contribute to high level conversations that result in process and product change, as well as become integral to change management as we adapt as a company. Success in this role will ultimately lead to achieving the goals of the firm related to shared truckload and pooling, specifically speaking to higher volume of execution, greater contribution margin, and improved service levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the Strategic Solutions sales team
  • Understand compliance regulations to make critical decisions on carrier selection 
  • Assist in building a strong carrier network to service multi-stop shipments
  • Make critical decisions on the execution of certain multi-stop shipments over others, and understanding the trade-offs of the choices made
  • Provide market costing related feedback to share with the data and pricing teams
  • Provide solutions to complex problems that arise during a shipment’s transit period
  • Delegate and assist on any fulfillment related escalations for the team and department
  • Coach sales representatives on best practices within the logistics environment
  • Proactively track your teams shipments ensuring timely pick up and delivery
  • Interpret a variety of reports and make business-related decisions for your team
  • Circulate feedback on product and process gaps to improve the team’s workflow
  • The scope of responsibilities for this position may not be limited to those listed above, there may be other projects from time to time
  • Internally support sales teams by answering operational questions and providing consultative information.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of experience in freight logistics
  • Experience leading high velocity teams in a fast paced environment
