Job Description

Downtown Denver-based luxury vacation company seeks a dynamic service-oriented professional who is highly-organized and has experience catering to affluent clientele from around the world.  This position is responsible for assisting in the accounting and reporting functions of the company to ensure timely and reliable financial reporting and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.  They must have experience leading and building teams and a track record of demonstrated process improvement.  The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills and a willingness to be hands on in both the day to day and monthly close process.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in completing monthly close process and preparation of financial statements (GAAP and Management) and supporting management reports
    • Oversee the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
    • Oversee the preparation of management reporting packages
    • Ensure integrity of financial data and accuracy of the financial statements
    • Review balance sheet account reconciliations and roll forwards and explain monthly transactional activity
    • Assist in analyzing and explaining budget variances, and anticipate trends
    • Provide support as needed to team in preparing and approving journal entries, allocations, accruals, reconciliations and financial reports
    • Provide support as needed to manage the accuracy and recording of deferred revenue, payroll, leases, credits, fixed asset, etc
  • Assist in determining technical accounting treatment for all company transactions
    • Ensure adherence to GAAP
    • Assist in assessing impact of new accounting standards and implement any required changes to current accounting policies and procedures
    • Review business contracts as necessary to ensure proper accounting treatment
  • Support new business initiatives
    • Assist in determining accounting policies and procedures for new initiatives
    • Assist in developing and implementing required accounting processes to support new initiatives
    • Be an advocate for the team in prioritizing new initiatives
  • Improve core accounting processes to streamline and automate month end activities
    • Lead various projects as assigned and continuously find ways to refine processes by creating efficiencies, streamlining repetitive tasks, and utilizing technology
    • Assist in reducing time of monthly close process
    • Lead accounting team through necessary change management
    • Identify and assist in rectifying areas of opportunity and exposure
  • Develop, hire, motivate and manage financial and administrative staff
  • Assist in developing and maintaining appropriate business and internal controls over financial reporting
  • Assist in the coordination of the company’s annual financial audit
  • Work closely with other department leaders to manage the company’s finances
 
Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 8+ years’ experience in a financial reporting role; minimum 5+ years managing a professional team
  • Active CPA preferred
  • Experience with finance and accounting systems and software
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Experience with change management and competing priorities
  • Strong, hands-on management style with a proven ability to lead, develop and provide guidance to an accounting staff
  • Outstanding analytical, organizational, project/process management skills
  • Previous accounting leadership position experience required
  • Experience in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Prior success implementing accounting process improvements and upgrading systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - demonstrated ability to successfully partner with peers, subordinates, other departments and executive management
Location: This is a Denver-based position.
 
Compensation - $130,000- $170,000 Base Salary  
We believe in building a compensation structure that reflects the comparable market pay rate for positions at companies similar in size, revenue generation and geographic location; in addition to individual factors including seniority, performance-based merit, education/training and experience related to scope of responsibilities.     Bonus – This position is eligible for the company’s bonus plan, to the extent offered, at a target bonus percentage of up to 10% of your annual salary.   Benefits – This position is eligible for a health and welfare benefits package including medical, dental & vision insurance.   FAM Trip – This Position is eligible for the Employee Familiarization Travel Program following three (3) consecutive months of employment. This program provides you up to one seven (7) day reservation in an eligible Inspirato property per your employment calendar year – subject to seasonal property demands and the company Employee Familiarization Travel Program Terms and Conditions.
