Job Description

The Competitive Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for tracking the trends and events happening across the Education learning market to help inform our product, marketing, and sales strategies. As the expert in the market, you'll work to arm decision-makers across our organization to make more informed choices, and help shape our go-to-market strategy. Reporting to the Manager, Education Product Marketing, you'll have a prominent role in driving strategy and direction, including recommendations for partnership or acquisitions.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Competitive Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for tracking the trends and events happening across the Education learning market to help inform our product, marketing, and sales strategies. As the expert in the market, you'll work to arm decision-makers across our organization to make more informed choices, and help shape our go-to-market strategy. Reporting to the Manager, Education Product Marketing, you'll have a prominent role in driving strategy and direction, including recommendations for partnership or acquisitions. 

HOW WILL I MAKE AN IMPACT?

What will you do day-to-day? Everything from participate in industry analyst briefings, support sales conversations, prepare market update slides or decks for a variety of audiences, create competitive debriefs on specific companies in the market, summarize market news and events, attend conferences to collect market intelligence...all activities to build and share your market expertise and insights. They will drive the initiation of a corporate resource/repository for internal reference and ongoing enablement at scale. 

Specifically, You'll Engage In Activities Such As

  • Manage the creation and implementation of market intelligence supporting executive decision-making, the identification of emerging opportunities and threats, and monitoring competitors, potential partners, prospects, and consumers
  • Gather, analyze, and synthesize information about the Learning Management and Edtech markets, focusing on both existing and emerging Education competitive landscapes.
  • Develop concise, audience-appropriate, actionable communications characterized by their strategic insight.
  • Develop up-to-date tools and trainings (such as battle cards, product analyses, competitive responses, workshops internal and external presentations, etc.) with a view toward improving sales effectiveness.
  • Maintain customer facing materials and marketing campaigns to educate customers/prospects about D2L differentiation from select competitors. Provide field support for sales teams engaged in competitive discussions with prospects or customers.
  • Brief product teams on competitor technologies and update marketing teams about competitive messaging and positioning issues.
  • Help foster and drive internal competitive information sharing.
  • Provide analytical, project, systems and data support by creating and distributing numerous tactical and strategic market intelligence reports based on primary and secondary sources of learning technology trends and competitive activity to inform short-term and long-term business decisions, goals, plans, and outcomes
  • Routinely interface with sales, product, and marketing teams and other stakeholders by sourcing and analyzing business and market data in scheduled and ad-hoc meetings to make fact-based recommendations to optimize our go-to-market strategy
  • Cultivate shared edtech competitive market understanding in every corner of the organization with interactive workshops and courses and support sales enablement.
  • Embrace the strategic and tactical planning and support our field teams by contributing to and developing sales enablement.
  • Present analysis and recommendations to senior and executive leadership.
  • Challenge assumptions or the status quo and how things have been done to bring new ideas or innovations to bear on existing efforts. 
  • Verify accuracy and reliability of data and recommend corrections or adjustments in the collection, assessment, and dissemination of intelligence
  • Implement efficient processes to capture and analyze market intelligence data while acting with a sense of urgency to deliver critical reports and analyses both proactively and on-demand.

EDUCATION RECOMMENDATIONS:
