Vir Biotechnology is seeking an experienced Scientist to join a fast-paced interdisciplinary team passionate about development of viral vaccine vectors. This person will support method development for the production, purification, and analytics of new technologies and products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Advance vaccine vector production methods and analytics for product characterization and release.
    • Develop process controls and qualify analytics for vector development.
    • May participate in the development of patent applications, publications, and documentation to support regulatory submissions.
    • Serves as internal specialist working closely with multi-functional teams and external partners (CMOs, Suppliers, etc.).
    • May act as advisor to senior management and subject matter expert in the process development group.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Expertise in aseptic mammalian cell or virus culture.
    • Demonstrated capabilities in process development and/or analytics, such as bulk viral harvest and purification, sample preparation, and analytical testing.
    • Proven experience in protein and nucleic acid based analytical method development including: ELISA, Western blot, immunofluorescence assays, RT-PCR, qPCR, sequencing methods, ddPCR, extraction methods and quantitation.
    • Ability to apply theoretical principles from the literature to proof-of-concept experiments through manufacturing and scale up.
    • Ability to critically analyze datasets from multiple inputs to understand the effects of process changes on downstream products.
    • Functional knowledge of statistical software packages such as GraphPad and JMP.
    • Experience developing cGMP compliant processes and methods while working within a regulated environment.

EDUCATION:

    • BS/MS in a scientific or engineering field
    • BS 6+ years, MS 4+ years of experience in industry
