Job Description

Rec Room is the best place to build and play games together. Chat, hang out, explore MILLIONS of rooms, or build something new to share with us all! Our Community team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build the systems which ensure players can find the people and content that they enjoy. In this role, you will build game features to showcase this content, including compelling social and inclusive experiences that connect millions of players 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL: 

  • Work autonomously and iteratively to help creators build fanbases and connect players with content and people that delight them
  • Design, build, and maintain features of player communication, social system, content promotion, and content discovery systems using C# and various backend technologies. 
  • Use metrics to track feature performance and inform design decisions
  • Collaborate across teams and disciplines to build great new technology for our players

WE ARE LOOKING FOR THE FOLLOWING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience writing production distributed systems or cloud services using C#
  • 5+ years of experience building and shipping production-ready gameplay code (i.e., C# or C++) 
  • Excellent cross-discipline communication skills 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, autonomous, and ambiguous environment
  • A constant desire to learn, improve, and help others improve

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE: 

  • Experience with Game Development and Game Engines (preferably Unity)
  • Knowledge of synchronization techniques in stateless distributed systems, and experience building RESTful API backend services
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services
  • Experience with Personalization or Machine Learning 
  • Experience with non-relational database/storage technology (i.e., NoSQL, blob storage, etc.)
  • Experience developing for multiple platforms (mobile, console, VR)
  • Passion for game design, specifically game feel and high-quality player feedback
  • Experience working on a live online service
