About Homebound

Homebound is a custom homebuilder that makes building your perfect home simple, transparent and human. We were born out of communities impacted by devastating wildfires, and we are the first homebuilder to provide everything homeowners need to rebuild — managing the entire process from start to finish and supporting homeowners every step of the way.

Job Description

Homebound’s mission is to create a better way to build homes, leveraging technology to make custom homebuilding simpler and more transparent. We’re delivering on that promise in places that have been impacted by natural disasters, and now we’re expanding to help families across the country build the perfect home.
With a better labor model, a more efficient building process, and a delightful homeowner experience, Homebound is transforming the single-family home market. The Homebound team includes in-house designers, architects, insurance experts, legal counsel, construction managers, and developers — all of whom have come together to improve custom homebuilding as a whole.
We are already helping hundreds of homeowners across California, Texas, and The Bahamas, and we are ready to scale to help hundreds more. Join us!
Role Overview
While creating new technology is one of the critical drivers of both cost advantage and customer experience, architectural design and process management also plays a key role in Homebound’s success. With architecture leading the early phases of a project, Homebound provides a common thread during pre-construction services coordinating design, construction documentation, and preparing for agency submittal. The role resides within Homebound’s Architecture & Design Department within the Construction Services team.
Homebound’s Architecture Coordinator is the central operation’s resource to address local market needs related to architects and draftspersons. For Homebound’s lot development practice, the Architecture Coordinator will select and modify plans for development on designated lots, coordinate outside architects and consultants during pre-construction, and support the architecture process. For Homebound’s consumer-facing projects, the Architecture Coordinator will work with the project lead to kick-off the architecture process including guidance on architect selections and customer intake.  They will not only have a keen eye for details in design, but also tracking changes in scope to keep the project within budget.
While Homebound is not a traditional architecture firm, we expect the Architecture Coordinator’s experience to be aligned to a Project Architect or Project Manager level.

What You'll Do

    • Support pre-construction activities for lot development homes, including coordinating consultants, reviewing and marking up plan sets, and overseeing the permitting process.
    • Create in-house renderings of Homebound plans and/or oversee visualization production by outside renderers.
    • Aid in the creation of drawings through drafting and assisting as requested in communication with the architect as needed to relay information about design, direction or plan issues.
    • Ensure suggestions and feedback on work performed are incorporated into the drawings based on documentation from the project lead.
    • Assist to ensure the execution of Schematic Design meets Homebound standards and stays on track with the initial design intent and budget.
    • Ensure compliance with all Homebound Architecture templates and construction specifications.
    • Review drawings created by the network architectural team and consultants for quality at each stage of the architectural journey and provide guidance on standards.
    • Ensure drawing adjustments are made correctly and in alignment with customer approvals and adheres to budgetary constraints.
    • Provide product information, samples, resources, and available options related to Architecture and exterior finishes.
    • Understand means and methods for residential construction.
    • Knowledgeable in Homebound Architectural Standards and ability to implement.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with Network Architects.
    • Assist in coordination of organized project records for Architectural changes with the project lead on all projects.
    • Participate in meetings (remotely) when drawings and schematics are presented to customers.
    • While typically working remotely, some travel or on site visits may be required.
    • Meet metrics related to Architecture key results.
    • Work with Architecture Leadership to establish proper meaningful standards tied to performance goals.

    • 4+ years of experience working in an architectural role.
    • Experience with navigating and executing zoning, HOA, and permitting processes.
    • Understanding of integration of building systems - including structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
    • Must have exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
    • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, and / or Bluebeam.
    • BIM experience required.
    • High fidelity rendering experience (Enscape, Lumion, 3DsMax) is a plus.
    • Single-family residential experience required.
    • Preference for experience in production building.

Who You Are

    • You’re an engaging, detail oriented, self-motivated, results-focused professional committed to providing a quality customer experience.

    • You are excited to join a rapidly growing startup and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
    • You have the ability to motivate and lead others and provide a positive and productive work environment.
We are focused on building a diverse and inclusive workforce. If you’re excited about this role, but do not meet 100% of the qualifications listed above, we encourage you to apply.
