In this role you will..

  • Lead the implementation and management of all medicinal chemistry strategies to achieve project / research goals
  • Effectively interface with medicinal chemistry and project teams to ensure transparency and alignment
  • Pilot the selection of critical path activities to drive project progression
  • Be responsible for managing outsourced synthetic chemistry at partner CROs
  • Effectively communicate new project proposals, medicinal chemistry strategies, innovative ideas and results
  • Work collaboratively across diverse functions to achieve corporate goals

Qualifications:

  • A PhD degree in organic/medicinal chemistry is required, in addition to 5+ years of drug discovery experience in a pharmaceutical/biotechnology setting
  • Self-starter with demonstrated leadership in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery as evidenced by performance and accomplishment
  • Demonstrated track record of success in the progression of drug discovery programs
  • Experience implementing medicinal chemistry strategies across all stages of project progression from hit identification, hit to lead evaluation, and lead optimization to achieve program goals
  • Experience functioning within strong multi-disciplinary teams and utilizing cross-functional information, such as biochemical activity, ADME, structural biology, and pharmacological data, to drive medicinal chemistry strategies;
  • Demonstrated technical skills and scientific creativity in organic and medicinal chemistry
  • Demonstrated experience in complex problem solving through in depth analysis of data 
  • Experience in managing external chemistry teams
