About Eikon Therapeutics

Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the interface of chemistry, engineering and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon’s discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells. By directly measuring the effects of chemical compounds on the behavior of a wide array of individual proteins in a live cellular environment, Eikon’s landmark assays facilitate the highly sensitive identification of compounds-protein interactions that could not be identified through traditional assays, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.

Job Description

Company Description

Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the interface of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon’s discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.

The parallel development of custom engineering solutions commensurate with the groundbreaking nature of this discovery platform, to enable the collection, analysis, and understanding of the large, high-content datasets that these microscopes produce, is key to Eikon’s mission of discovering new life-saving drugs.

Position

As a Scientist joining early at Eikon, you will be an essential part of an interdisciplinary founding team of highly creative and talented individuals with outstanding expertise in the Company’s core platform technologies. You’ll work closely with biologists, chemists, computer scientists, and microscope engineers, and play key roles in developing and running assays for Eikon’s high-throughput single-molecule imaging-based platforms as well as other critical pathway and functional assays. You will serve as the biology lead on new drug discovery projects, and push drug discovery pipelines forward by applying and advancing our core technology at Eikon.

About You

  • You're a rigorous experimentalist who thinks critically and takes pride in the quality of bench work that you deliver
  • You’re curious, love challenges, and enjoy pushing the edge of technology to solve important problems with creative solutions
  • You can enjoy diving into a new pathway and/or disease area and quickly become a top expert in the subject, with your own opinions
  • You’re conscientious and pay almost obsessive attention to detail and documentation
  • You’re resourceful and collaborative by nature. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, and enjoy working in a cross-disciplinary team

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the biochemistry for drug discovery projects, leveraging our single particle tracking platform and working with biologists, chemists and engineers
  • Lead protein production. Establish a cascade of biochemical/biophysical assays to support medicinal chemistry and understand mechanism to each of our discovery programs
  • Develop novel and high-throughput assays to interrogate difficult to drug therapeutic targets
  • Collaborate and communicate across a diverse research team to successfully progress scientific goals. Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously and manage diverse team interactions
  • Keep detailed and organized records of experimental protocols and results

Key Qualifications

  • PhD degree in molecular/cell biology, biochemistry, genetics or related discipline with 6+ years of hands-on research experience in an industrial or academia setting
  • Must have 4+ years hands on experience in protein biochemistry, and 2+ years’ experience in protein production/purification
  • 2+ years’ experience in assay development for high throughput drug screening in industry setting is highly recommended
  • A track record demonstrating scientific vigor and creativity in carrying out independent research
  • Strong time management and organizational skills. Exemplary written, verbal, and presentation communication skills. Keen analytical and problem-solving skills
