Job Description

Rover.com connects pet parents with the world’s largest network of pet sitters and dog walkers. On Rover, pet parents can easily discover, book, and manage personalized care for their dogs including pet sitting, dog walking, and doggy day care. Founded in 2011 on the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the unconditional love of a dog, Rover improves and simplifies life for pet parents and the dogs they love. Our global headquarters are in Seattle, Washington in the United States, working closely with our teams in Spokane, and Barcelona. We have a track record of being recognized as a great place to work, named among Seattle's 'Best Places to Work' in Seattle Business Magazine and the Puget Sound Business Journal for three years in a row. We're an agile, fast-growing company, and our leadership comes from some of the world's most respected tech companies. Our pioneering approach to people and pups alike landed us on the lists of GeekWire’s Next Tech Titan in 2019 and the World's Most Innovative Companies in 2018 by Fast Company. Needless to say (but we're going to say it anyway)—we love dogs, and we wouldn't dream of going to work without them by our sides.

Who we're looking for:

Do you have a proven track record of identifying key trends and themes that resonate with target media? Are you experienced in leveraging data to help tell a brand’s story? Have your past roles been at an agency and/or with a consumer-facing brand? Do you have experience working with or at a company experiencing tremendous growth? If so, this may be the role for you!

We’re looking for a highly motivated, creative and resourceful PR Specialist who knows how to craft narratives that drive high-quality consumer PR coverage across national and local press including a mix of online/print, radio and broadcast. This role is dedicated to building on the existing consumer PR program’s success playbook and bringing a new perspective to elevate the program and establish Rover as the #1 most trusted and loved brand in pet care.

To be successful in the role, you’ll need to have a finger on the pulse of key trends, including a strong POV for how Rover fits into those narratives, a proven track record for moving quickly to adapt or pivot to reach desirable outcomes, along with a metrics-oriented mind. This role must have a deep understanding of the current media landscape, Rover and its white space, building a campaign from ideation to successful completion, and tracking/reporting on what works/what doesn’t and why. You’ll be reporting on earned media and link-building efforts in tandem, while also successfully narrating outcomes of the consumer PR program.

Your Responsibilities:

      • Drives the ideation and implementation of consumer/SEO campaigns
      • Oversees day-to-day consumer PR activity, including our always on newsdesk

      • Communicates weekly/monthly metrics reporting for PR + SEO driven activity to key stakeholders
      • Conducts ad hoc research and news monitoring to support reputation management, as needed

Your Qualifications:

      • 4-5+ years of PR experience at an agency and/or with a consumer-facing brand
      • Experience driving earned media campaigns from ideation to completion
      • Proven track record of leveraging data as an effective storytelling tool
      • Knowledge of SEO/link-building efforts concurrent with PR campaigns
      • Strong writing skills, with a knack for understanding various audiences and/or mediums
      • Experience with Cision/Trendkite or other comparable PR software
      • Ability to leverage data to inform decision making and pivot, as needed
      • Experience working across teams/departments
      • Experience building a brand and stewarding a brand voice
      • Self-directed and accountable
      • Exceptional prioritization skills
      • Focusing on business impact
      • Skilled and honest communication
      • Action-oriented and unafraid of ambiguity
      • Consumer-obsessed with an eye for quality
      • Wordpress experience (a bonus)
