Headway is making quality mental healthcare accessible and affordable across the United States. 

1 in 4 people have a treatable mental health condition, but the vast majority do not get the care they need. This is primarily due to cost: 70% of therapists don’t accept insurance, meaning paying for therapy can be very expensive. That’s why Headway is building the first software-enabled national network of therapists who accept health insurance. We launched in April of 2019 and are already powering 25,000+ therapy appointments each month and continue to expand across the nation.

We’re looking for a GM, Physician Partnerships to build and scale a critical growth lever at Headway. Today, a single Primary Care Physician refers five to ten patients each week to therapy. Unfortunately, most of these patients never see a therapist because they simply can’t find one who accepts insurance. By partnering with PCPs and other healthcare providers in New York  and across the country, Headway can ensure that these patients are able to find therapists to get the care they need.  
We’re betting on this channel becoming a massive demand-generation driver for Headway, projecting tens of thousands of patient referrals generated each month by the end of this year, and hundreds of thousands each month by the end of next year. This channel has potential to unlock strategic value with our payer partners that we can leverage into better rates for our therapists.
You will:
  • Build a scalable, predictable Physician Partnerships engine to acquire thousands of physicians and hundreds of thousands of referrals 
  • Scale the team that scales the channel, building out the various functional teams, from sales to marketing to ops, required for rapid scaling
  • Collaborate with our Head of Growth & co-founder to set broad strategic vision and tactical annual and quarterly goals for the team 
  • Build mission-critical, foundational systems and process that enable the team to rapidly learn and rapidly scale 
  • Collaborate with Headway’s leadership team to identify optimal payer value and, in turn, our leverage in payer contract negotiations

  • You have experience leading an early-stage, rapidly-scaling commercial or healthcare expansion
  • You have experience managing and leading teams at scale
  • You’re equally excited about going from 0 to 1 as you are 1 to 100, and owning a broad surface of responsibility excites you
  • You’re energized about ambiguity and the opportunity to own an entire channel from end to end, setting strategy and imposing structure to create a predictable, repeatable acquisition motion

Headway is currently remote, and will be for the foreseeable future. However, once it is deemed safe to do so, we will be returning to our office in NYC.
