About The Job:
 
Okera is looking for a passionate, hard-working, and talented DevOps Lead/Manager who has experience supporting innovative, mission critical, high volume platforms. You will have an enormous opportunity to build out an early team, work within large data platforms researching/identifying the common issues, and driving the team towards resolution to have a positive impact on customer experience in addition to gaining deep expertise within Docker, Hadoop, and Kubernetes!
 
What You’ll Do:
  • Work with engineers on the design, deployment and continuous improvement of important services.
  • Provide input into long-range platform requirements and operational guidelines, with a focus on automation and continuous improvements.
  • Develop and own best practices/methodologies for provisioning, platform scaling, configuration management, monitoring, etc in order to improve organization-wide visibility into how distributed systems interact and perform.
  • Analyze and comprehend how customers are using the platform and help drive continuous improvement of the offering based on that.
  • Own daily operational goals with the team.
  • Continuously raise our standard of engineering excellence by implementing best practices for coding, testing, and deployment.
Basic Qualifications:
  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of DevOps experience.
  • 2+ years of experience leading/managing a DevOps program.
  • Ability to automate/script code using Java, C++, Python, or Golang.
  • Knowledge of Java based technologies.
  • Knowledge of the UNIX/Linux operating systems.
  • Experienced with large data platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues.
  • Demonstrated skill and passion for operational excellence.
  • Experience in a 24/7 production environment is a plus.
  • Ability to retain composure under stressful conditions, communicates effectively with a wide array of individuals and gets the right things done.
  • Able to collaborate and work within a fast paced environment.
