Job Description

Aera is searching for a Technical Accounting Manager to join our Accounting team located in Mountain View. The Technical Accounting Manager will be responsible for the preparation of technical accounting memos and analysis addressing Aera’s accounting for transactions under U.S. GAAP, including review of revenue contracts to ensure compliance with ASC 606, establish and document processes for internal developed software, and the implementation of other accounting standards.
The position will also work with external auditors to assist with tests of controls, interim procedures, and year-end audits. This position will assist in the financial reporting process including drafting disclosures and ensuring supporting schedules are accurate and provided to the auditors timely. This position will also serve as a point of contact for questions from the internal and external auditors. This position will report to the Corporate Controller and will initially be an individual contributor role. 


    • Review and analyze revenue contracts and document significant terms and accounting conclusions to ensure that revenue is recorded in compliance with Company’s revenue recognition policy and accounting literature in accordance with ASC 985-606
    • Develop/refine revenue accounting processes and procedures with a focus on continuous improvements
    • Perform monthly revenue recognition including review of billable professional service hours, deferred/unbilled revenue, journals, account reconciliation and fluxes, ensuring accurate results are delivered on time for reporting in accordance with US GAAP
    • Responsible for managing revenue accounting operations; order-to-cash process
    • Prepare customer invoices both subscription and professional services
    • Prepare billing and collection forecast
    • Perform project profitability analysis
    • Manage year-end financial audits by external auditors
    • Support Controller on ad-hoc analysis and other projects

About You

    • Bachelor's Degree required in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
    • 5+ years of combined experience with at least 3 years of work experience directly related to revenue recognition
    • Experience in the software and technology sector is preferred
    • Knowledge of current US GAAP with respect to revenue recognition and willingness to stay current on all related developing issues
    • Knowledge of NetSuite Advanced Revenue Recognition is preferred
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-growth, fast-paced environment
    • Strong teamwork, collaboration, flexibility and proactiveness
    • Roll-up the sleeves approach in order to accomplish all necessary tasks
