We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate with experience in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, and assay development to join our team. The successful candidate will join us at our research facility in Agoura Hills, CA and work on cutting edge science in a dynamic, fast-paced and team-oriented environment.

In this role, you will help discover, characterize, and develop novel drug candidates that will advance A2’s innovative Tmod™ cell therapy platform. We are looking for an experienced Research Associate familiar with modern molecular cloning techniques who can design and assemble DNA constructs. You will further utilize biochemical and cell-based techniques, such as protein expression and purification, western blotting, flow cytometry, CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing, and cell-based assays, to enhance our understanding of the novel drug molecules.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work with our scientists to design and perform cutting-edge molecular and cell biology experiments to advance the Tmod™ cell therapy platform
  • Collaborate to establish and implement new protocols and solve technical problems
  • Molecular cloning, including construct generation and DNA/RNA preparations
  • Mammalian cell culture maintenance and cell-based assays
  • Purification and biochemical characterization of recombinant proteins
  • Design, execute, document and effectively communicate scientific data
  • Routine maintenance of laboratory supplies and equipment


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant laboratory experience OR
  • Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant laboratory experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with complex molecular biology and familiarity with modern molecular biology analysis software tools
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, assay cell lines, flow cytometry and cell sorting
  • Hands-on experience with recombinant protein expression and purification techniques, including bacterial and mammalian expression, protein refolding from inclusion body, affinity chromatography, and AKTA purification
  • Familiarity with biochemical methods, such as ELISA, AlphaLISA, Biacore, and western blotting
  • Ability to think critically and demonstrate problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a cross-functional, collaborative environment
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and flexible in job assignment
