Job Description

The Head of Payments role will be instrumental in the design and execution of a robust and compliant payments strategy, infrastructure, and ecosystem within HackerOne and will be key to the success of HackerOne’s overall market expansion strategy[DN2] .
 
The role will be foundational to the development and expansion of our products in-market, including support to colleagues in Sales/Business Development, Finance, Risk and Compliance, Legal, Marketing, Operations, Product, and Product Marketing.
 
The Head of Payments will be responsible for key industry relationship oversight and coverage, executing on our global payments strategy and leading our Go-to-Market strategy and approach. A key focus of this role will be to manage HackerOne’s relationship roadmap with hackers, customers, acquirers, banks, card networks and industry bodies operating in the payments ecosystem. The position will be important to HackerOne’s domestic and international expansion strategy, including representing HackerOne’s business in front of regulators and other key stakeholders, as well as key industry influencers in North America, the UK, and the EU, and beyond.

Your Journey at HackerOne

      • Define and execute on a comprehensive global payments’ strategy for HackerOne in this rapidly evolving sector in line with rapid advances in technology and regulations;
      • Build and manage strategic relationships with payment industry partners and service providers;
      • Strengthen the influence and market position of HackerOne’s business, brand, and reputation in the marketplace;
      • Expand HackerOne’s partner and strategic payments’ alliances globally, helping to accelerate HackerOne’s growth and expansion in existing and new markets;
      • Understand HackerOne's competitive position and implement programs and strategies to further and improve its payments infrastructure, capabilities, services, and strategic objectives;
      • Lead and support management for HackerOne’s strategic industry initiatives, including fostering a robust partner engagement program to strengthen HackerOne’s leadership position in key priority markets;
      • Maximize current and future partnerships through proactive and effective account management, working with key industry partners, suppliers, customers, and industry associations to define, iterate and enable new products/services and Go-to-Market strategies;
      • Define the strategy for and lead in commercial negotiations with partners, customers, and other stakeholders to achieve optimal business outcomes for HackerOne;
      • Research and analyse industry trends and opportunities for HackerOne to further distinguish its position as it relates to its payments products;
      • Providing guidance and assurance that business units remain compliant with the payment industry scheme rules, including electronic payments and cards;
      • Maintaining an end-to-end view of payments and monitoring banks payment practices, ensuring processes are designed to be resilient and compliant with industry standards; and
      • Design, delivery, and management of a payments operating model, as agreed and approved by senior leadership.
 

Who you are

      • 10+ years’ experience in the payment services industry (including at least 3 years in a leadership position);
      • In-depth experience and understanding of the payments industry and ecosystem, its challenges and opportunities and its evolution in [the US, UK, and EU, among other markets such as those in APAC];
      • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills;
      • Ability to lead cross-functional and complex projects and teams and interact at all levels with diverse roles including engineers, business partners, risk and compliance, legal counsel, finance, operations, engineering and executive leadership (including the C-Suite);
      • Deep analytical skills that enable analysis of industry movements and trends;
      • Exceptional oral, written communication and presentation skills, with a strong track record of being able to influence key stakeholders (internal and external);
      • Strong relationship building skills coupled with the ability to motivate a call to action for the organisation;
      • Understanding of the PSP business model and demonstrated performance in a regulated payments or electronic money institution would be a clear advantage;
      • Strong technical background and sound understanding of technology and the ability to rapidly absorb complex functional and technical requirements, support in technical validation & architectural delivery would be an advantage.
      • Exceptional cross-functional collaboration and leadership skills, as well as deep knowledge of global and local markets, and extensive experience in the digital payments space;
      • Extensive experience in commercial partnerships and alliances, payments operations, and supporting new product and service expansion into new markets against a backdrop of complex ecosystem players. Effective management of these relationships require strong cross-functional and internal collaboration with multiple stakeholders and in-market teams, but also deep and extensive industry relationships;
      • Being deeply familiar with and the ability to navigate complex and diverse regulatory regimes and frameworks across multiple jurisdictions, including the US, the EU, the UK and beyond (such as APAC); and
      • Understanding the importance of and can collaborate effectively with Risk & Compliance Governance, and Engineering colleagues on complex projects to design and implement robust risk-based payments compliance, risk management and governance frameworks that can be scaled in multiple markets.
