Some Spider Studios is a fast-growing media & entertainment company backed by top VC’s and serial entrepreneurs Marc Lore and Vinit Bharara. Marc and Vinit previously co-founded Diapers.com and sold it to Amazon. Marc more recently founded Jet.com and sold it to Walmart, where he is CEO of Walmart.com.

We’re currently home to four channels: Scary Mommy (largest women with kids brand online), CAFE (led by popular national figure Preet Bharara, host of chart-topping pod “Stay Tuned”), The Dad (fastest-growing new brand for men with kids) and our newest addition Fatherly (new voice in practical parenting) – all built for mobile, social and streaming.

 

Role: Creative Strategist/Strategic Creative (The Pitch Whisperers)

The Creative Strategist/Strategic Creative is on the frontline of the pre-sales business. This role holds a unique quality of being able to craft compelling insights and cultivate those into powerful creative narratives that strategically deliver for our brand partners and audience. From scouring culture for trends to researching audience behavior, to creating first to market franchises to developing unique ways to deliver content programs this role has incredible opportunity to shape the work of the team and pave the path to our company’s, and your own, success!  You are a big thinker who can make sense and simplify the details, a calm in the face of any storm and a bright light that inspires and builds confidence to those you work with. 

Charlotte’s Creative Strategy and Insights team are nicknamed the Pitch Whisperers.  As the pre-sales team, our work can be subtle in action but sweeping in impact as we inform our programs with an alchemy of qualities from insights, to strategy, to impactful visual storytelling, to informed creative positioning that are all inspired by our primary goal: meeting our clients KPIs.  In this way we are both dreamers and doers and we translate our passion for data, our desire for connected storytelling, and our obsession with trends to bad ass innovative programs.  We operate at the intersection of efficiency and efficacy all in the pursuit of excellence.  That said, we start we empathy first philosophy, and use that motivator to act as great teammates, client partners, and audience translators.   



The Creative Strategist works to:

  • Research trends, culture and audience behavior and translate those learnings into forward facing materials that position Charlotte as thought leaders and help define our approaches to content creations.
  • Develop collateral to bolster the presales process - from General Presentations, to case studies, to brand one sheets.  Pulsing the needs of the market and the sales team to build an ever-evolving suite of materials. 
  • Build excellent relationships with cross functional team members from Sales, to Creative, to Audience Development, to Editorial and beyond to ensure our output is maximized day to day operations run smoothly.
  • Maintain the excellence of our pitch experience by owning the room, pivoting on a dime and earning the confidence of our clients. 
  • Bring in new ways of working, products to consider, programs to build, resources to consider all in the service of expanding and maximizing our capabilities. 
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize and manage multiple programs concurrently in order to ensure all programs and projects are delivered as expected, on time, and with excellence. 

 

Requirements:

  • We are looking for multiple seniority levels for this role. 3-10 years’ experience in a similar role with a publisher, advertiser or agency
  • Microsoft Office Suite: with rich experience storytelling in PowerPoint

Google Suite: Gmail, Google docs, etc.

  • Familiarity with data and research platforms like Facebook Insights, Google Analytics, or ComScore are a plus! 
  • Familiarity with SurveyMonkey or other research tools is a plus!
  • Able to successfully work remotely
  • Possess a curiosity to understand, a hunger to achieve and the passion to exceed expectations.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, work autonomously and make smart decisions business and creative decisions.
