Job Description

Imara is a clinical stage company committed to developing novel therapeutics for hemoglobinopathies. With IMR-687’s ease of administration and stable properties, our goal is to develop and deliver therapies to serve a broad range of patients suffering from hemoglobinopathies around the world, including those in underserved regions.

Imara is looking for an employee experience-oriented Sr. Specialist/Manager, People Operations to join our growing company. This is a generalist role and is a great opportunity for an individual who is looking to broaden their skill set across multiple HR activities and contribute to the company in a meaningful way. Reporting directly to the Vice President of People you will be responsible for interview coordination, on-boarding and off-boarding, benefits administration, HRIS, and employee experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent candidate experience through management of interview coordination from phone interview through offer acceptance and on-boarding; including creating offer letters, background check initiation and employee file creation
  • Manage on-boarding and offboarding of all employees and contractors; including providing electronic new-hire packet, assembling new-hire welcome kit, developing on-boarding itinerary, and delivering first day orientation
  • Benefits and leave administration; including managing open enrollment and other internal benefits programs (wellness, etc.)
  • Respond to employee and manager inquiries regarding benefits, policies, and HR systems, escalating as appropriate
  • Manage and develop Imara Co-Op program through partnership with Hiring Managers and VP of People
  • In partnership with VP of People develop and implement People team initiatives related to employment branding, employee engagement, DE&I, and company and department level teambuilding
  • Collaborate and partner with colleagues across finance, operations, and IT on cross-functional initiatives
  • Opportunity to develop new systems, programs, and policies where useful to the organization

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience

Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • At least 3 years of human resources experience or a blend of human resources and operations experience.
  • Experience in an emerging or growing company preferred.
  • Experience working with HRIS systems such as BambooHR and Jazz HR
  • Highly organized and efficient with a high attention to detail
  • Customer service and employee experience oriented
  • Capable of building trust and relationships with employees across the organization
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to act with integrity and model company values at all times
  • Ability to maintain and handle sensitive and confidential situations and materials
  • Solutions and results oriented
  • General knowledge of laws and regulations
