Job Description

Plexium is working on best-in-class small molecule drugs to target protein degradation. We have an exciting opportunity for an in vivo pharmacology scientist to work in the field of oncology. Come join our progressive and collaborative team!

The Scientist II, Pharmocology performs research and/or development in collaboration with others in clinical pharmacology studies for investigational new drugs and marketed drugs.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, coordinate, and execute in vivo and ex vivo biology studies design 
  • Develop and/or prosecute in vivo models, including dosing, blood and tissue collection, surgery, and rodent tumor models
  • Design, plan, and execute in vivo experiments, culture primary and immortalized cells, conduct ex vivo analysis or in vitro experiments to address drug mechanism-of-action and disease-focused hypotheses, data analysis and interpretation
  • Develop focused in vivo strategies utilizing PK/PD/efficacy data to drive lead optimization & characterization as well as translational strategies to enable early clinical development

 

Successful Candidate Profile:

 

Education and Experience

  • DVM or PhD in Pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, or related field of science
  • Prior experience typically achieved through 3 years industry experience in small molecule drug development 

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years’ industry experience in small molecule drug development
  • Proven track record of successful scientific accomplishments, presentations and/or peer reviewed publications

 

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proven track record of successful scientific accomplishments, presentations and/or peer reviewed publications
  • Extensive experience with cancer models and tumor measurement 
  • Technological proficiency in cell culture, ex vivo assay, such as Western Blot and flow cytometry and animal handling, especially with mice
  • Proficiency analyzing and interpreting PK, PD and efficacy data 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills  
  • Outstanding problem solving, troubleshooting and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
