Modsy’s Merchandising team is responsible for developing business strategies and assortment plans to support our unique and growing Marketplace. As the Merchandise Business Analyst, you will report to the Manager of Merchandise Business Strategy, and be an integral part of the Modsy Merchandising team. You will be responsible for reporting, analyzing, and presenting up strategies based on your analysis. You will also build reporting capabilities and provide supporting analysis to Merchandising. This is a critical role supporting alignment across all of Merchandising and achievement of overall company goals.
Our ideal candidate will have experience in BI systems (Looker / Tableau), relational databases, and analytics. They will be highly analytical and data driven with a proven track record of effectively analyzing data to business context and able to answer questions and drive strategy. This analytical thinker must align with Modsy’s core values and be curious, a natural problem solver, and data driven.

You Have:

    • Passion about data and leveraging technology to drive better business insights.

    • Diligence in best practices for data gathering, data wrangling, and adhering to data quality.
    • Ability to understand the nuances of detailed analysis and vision to see the bigger picture, uncover, and share trends with the team.
    • Insight and know how to bring the right data, tools, and processes together to help the business scale.
    • Desire to participate in a collaborative, results-oriented, data driven company culture.

Experience and Qualifications:

    • A bachelor’s degree in a field with an emphasis on statistical and analytical skills, such as math, computer science, economics, data science, data analytics, etc.
    • 1 to 2+ years of experience in a highly analytical role such as Finance, Operations, or Analytics
    • Working Knowledge of SQL and Database Systems
    • Advanced skills in Excel and Google Sheets
    • Experience working with reporting tools like Looker and/or Tableau
    • Experience working with databases like Snowflake and/or Segment
    • Experience with building and maintaining dashboards
    • Strong strategic and analytical abilities
    • A demonstrated ability to seamlessly zoom in and out of details; comfortable digging into data and details while maintaining focus on the broader business strategy
    • A proven ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
    • A proven ability to develop strong working relationships with cross functional partners
    • The ability to influence and drive results cross functionally in a way that enriches the company's culture and overall team performance
    • A passion for data driven, client centric decision making
    • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and problem solving skills
    • Interest in Design, Retail or ECommerce is a plus
