Job Description

SmartRent is an enterprise home automation and smart building technology platform serving the multifamily, single-family rental, and student housing industry. Our extensive product line consists of web and mobile software for property owners and managers, residents, and system installers as well as connected hardware that remotely monitors and controls smart locks, readers, gates, lights, thermostats, outlets, cameras, and sensors. SmartRent streamlines operations for community staff to enhance the resident experience and provides property owners with a digital layer of asset protection. We are expanding quickly and building a team of dedicated content managers to assist us in managing the messaging of our products successfully.


About the Role


As SmartRent continues to evolve we are looking for an enthusiastic Content Specialist to join our product team! You’ll work closely with the product team to create innovative collateral for ongoing, and future product releases. You will help build both internal and external facing training documentation, as well as help to maintain our knowledge base. Our ideal candidate is someone who is driven and passionate about developing creative content and messaging across all of our products and solutions.


What You’ll Do

  • Work closely with Product to master a deep understanding of our products to produce high-quality content.
  • Lead the creation for high-impact materials such as knowledge base articles, support guides, website copy, release notes, product overviews, and other collateral needs.
  • Work cross-functionally with departments, such as Product, Operations, and Marketing, and Sales, on planning, producing, distributing, and reporting on content.
  • Uphold high writing standards as well as incorporate brand-aligned style and tone in content creation.
  • Build and develop training materials for both internal and external audiences across all products to drive enablement and adoption.
  • Plan and participate in speaking engagements to present our products .
  • Partner with and effectively communicate change initiatives with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain content documentation/knowledge base in our content management platform, Showpad.
  • Identify and analyze content performance based on data and analytics in Showpad.


  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field 4+ years of content/copywriting or training experience
  • Experience leading the creation of training presentations/materials
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Ability to think strategically and problem solve
  • Ability to take initiative and proactively identify opportunities to support our organization
  • Proven time management, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Keen eye for detail and creativity
  • Background in graphic design, instructional design or video creation is a plus
  • Proficient in Google Suite/Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of Adobe programs (In Design, Acrobat etc.)
  • Self-starter with an ability to thrive in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment
