About the role

We are looking for a dynamic PR Lead to help us take our media relations and content strategy in EMEA to the next level. The role will operate to ensure WorldRemit’s message is communicated to press and stakeholders, in line with our organisational PR vision, values and goals.

This position is a very hands-on fintech consumer-facing public relations role in a busy in-house press office. The role offers the opportunity to work with the press – trade, national and international – and to establish a media network for WorldRemit, a leading digital cross-border payments business, as well as assisting the digital communications strategy for the organisation.

The ideal candidate should have previous experience in PR, Digital and Traditional, and be capable of driving business results through press relations and creative campaigns in the EMEA region, across key target markets in UK, Europe and Africa, plus relevant corridors. The role requires a proactive approach to building and maintaining effective working relationships, and the ability to come up with relevant ideas to generate positive earned media coverage, whilst working in close co-operation with the organisation’s marketing and product teams.

Reporting to Global PR & Communications Director you will:

  • Develop media strategies for campaigns, products and announcements;

  • Help strengthen company’s position and visibility in EMEA by driving the brand narrative for earned media results;

  • Develop WorldRemit’s presence in the market with a multi-faceted approach to PR by combining digital and traditional practices;

  • Build consumer-facing, and consumer-relevant press relations activities working autonomously, as well as closely with relevant agencies, as required;

  • Manage PR agencies in the region, coordinating with regional marketing leads and country directors, to hit PR targets;

  • Exploring proactive and reactive press coverage opportunities for the company;

  • Link PR campaigns between key markets and marketing/products for timely promotions and organic media activities;

  • Dealing with media requests from trade, national and community/diaspora press in a timely fashion;

  • Building and maintaining relationships with media outlets and journalists in the trade and mainstream sectors, both in EMEA and internationally;

  • Monitoring, reporting on, and maintaining media coverage results;

  • Engaging with key internal and external stakeholders to maintain a consistent and accurate flow of information;

  • Supporting organisation, promotion and coverage of events and conferences;

  • Working closely with social media, branding and SEO teams to ensure optimised communication flow, both internally and externally;

  • Ad hoc tasks with PR and Marketing-Communications team as requested by Global PR & Communications Director

What we’re looking for from you...

  • 7-8 years of experience in a previous media relations role, in-house or agency;

  • Strong digital communications skills including e-sentiment monitoring and SEO-conscious writing for digital PR activities;

  • Familiarity with media databases and PR tools such as Vuelio, Cision, etc.;

  • Knowledge of French would be an asset;

  • Ability to build good relationships with key influencers, industry voices, media outlets and journalists;

  • Skilled in using PR to drive business results;

  • Efficiency in copywriting, editing and proofreading;

  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritise workload as required;

  • Awareness of PR, social media and SEO best practices;

  • Experience in the fintech or financial PR sector would be an advantage

What you’ll get from us

  • Life assurance of 3 times your salary, should the worst happen.

  • Pension scheme offering 8% matched contributions.

  • Private medical and dental care plans.

  • 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays, rising to 28 after 3 years.

  • Recharge days, 4 per year, 1 for each quarter

  • Cycle to work scheme

  • Various dining and shopping offers
