About the role…

Working closely with the existing Finance senior staff and report to the Group Finance Director, imparting their deep vertical experience and drawing on existing finance and legal resources to optimise WorldRemit’s tax strategy and position across its many operating jurisdictions

As a member of WorldRemit’s Finance team you will aim high, embrace challenge and always do what’s right; acting with integrity and building trust as you contribute to the company’s technical direction and long term decision making.

Reporting to the Group Finance Director, you will:

  • Develop, together with the Group Finance Director and other senior executives, a robust international tax strategy for the group and lead implementation of that strategy
  • Lead negotiations with local tax authorities and negotiate advantageous tax positions in each operating country
  • Lead Pre & Post merger acquisition from a tax perspective, have a strong knowledge of share scheme setup and fund raising
  • Build a robust process for dealing with all tax compliance and reporting
  • Provide proactive advice to senior personnel on the most tax efficient method of structuring transactions, especially regarding indirect taxation.
  • Take a leading role in managing the company’s transfer pricing policy, ensuring appropriate documentation is in place and negotiating with tax authorities where necessary
  • Submit individual entity tax returns for all entities (corporate tax, GST/VAT/Sales taxes, Federal & State returns etc.)
  • Provide technical and general taxation support to managers/senior managers across the organisation, ensuring tax risk is managed appropriately across all jurisdictions, products and transactions.
  • Design and develop reports and analyse tax data as required, helping to formulate strategy and provide insight into the underlying data.
  • Refine and implement a 'best practice' group tax compliance policy.


What we’re looking for from you…

  • Proven indirect tax experience (VAT, GST, HST etc.)
  • Excellent academics together with a recognised tax and/or accounting qualification
  • Ideally having worked in an international role in financial services or a role where they have developed deep expertise in global direct and indirect taxes, across multiple indirect tax jurisdictions.
  • US experience would be advantageous
  • Critical is the need to be creative and solution-driven, with the enthusiasm to take proactive ownership and responsibility of issues and manage them effectively through to resolution.
