Role
 
We are looking for a Director of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering to join the Candid™ team to own and manage our growing manufacturing & automation needs. The job will require knowledge of robotics and automation best practices, particularly for rapid parts handling, material handling methods, data processing, inventory tracking, and shop floor management. You and your team will be responsible for managing the design, build, install and validation of automated equipment &/or suppliers and evaluating capacity and capabilities for equipment in all manufacturing locations/ facilities (currently located in Milpitas CA, and TBD). You will report directly to SVP of Manufacturing


What You’ll Do 
 
  • Determine equipment requirements necessary to develop, integrate, test, and produce the Candid aligner product lines.
  • Conceive, specify, and deploy new equipment to improve throughput, and increase capabilities of the manufacturing lines
  • Develop and execute strategy for expanding manufacturing capacity to meet increasing demand, including factory equipment manifest, deployment schedule, and labor requirements
  • Implement new equipment solutions, drive to high uptime, yield, and utilization
  • Provide analysis and support to full-rate production planning from an equipment perspective.
  • Write specifications for and manage procurement of new equipment designs by various 3rd party vendors
  • Create new and modify existing equipment/fixturing to support R&D, Pilot and Production Operations
  • Design and prototype next gen equipment set where significant improvement opportunities are identified
  • Define and implement equipment set needed to support Pilot & Full-Scale Production
  • Prototype designs quickly with a combination of in house machining and contract manufacturers
  • Ensure adequate safety margins on existing and new designsEvaluate equipment production readiness and throughput capabilities for surge and slow down activities
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation plans for identified equipment cost, schedule, and technical issues
  • Have working knowledge of Federal Regulations governing facility safety and health requirements and reporting
 
 
What You’ll Need
  • 15+ years of work experience 
  • 5+ years in a management role
  • A get-it-done attitude and a desire to work in a dynamic environment is a must
  • Detail oriented with excellent project management skills
  • Track record of working in fast paced environments
  • Ability to work on many different projects at the same time
  • Experience in designing, procuring, assembling, troubleshooting and validating equipment
  • Effectively communicate and publish learning, experimental results, etc.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to travel (Passport may be required)
