Job Description

CM Group has the Martech industry’s largest family of email and multichannel marketing products with 70,000+ customers and 180+ billion emails sent annually. We allow our clients to scale across brands as they grow, identifying the right solutions at every step of their journey. Bringing together a diverse group of email marketing platforms under a single umbrella, CM Group is able to offer solutions that meet the needs of every marketer. Initially, our family included Campaign Monitor, Delivra, and Emma, but we have since become home to Liveclicker, Sailthru, Selligent, and Vuture. Our vision is to be the most respected, fastest growing family of marketing technology brands in the world. We have teams all over the globe - from NYC to San Francisco, from London to New Zealand - all working together to make our vision a reality.

The Role

  • Process and technical improvements in the development pipeline, together with the upskilling of developers, has had a hugely positive impact on developer delivery, creating increased pressure on the current QA team. As a result, we currently have a significant and growing backlog of manual tests.
  • To relieve the pressure, we are looking to bring on a QA Analyst to take responsibility for our manual testing. This will allow members of the existing test team to focus on Vuture's future adoption of automation testing and the deployment pipeline to help drive efficiency and productivity.
  • As a QA Analyst at Vuture, you'll be expected to quickly and comprehensively familiarise yourself with the functionality of our SaaS marketing automation platform (Vx), with the aim of becoming a product expert as the year continues.
  • It will then be necessary to understand all new features as they appear in our project pipeline. You'll sit with the Product Owner and the developers to work with them to determine the test case scenarios, including what will be required and how it will be achieved. You'll add your own input, looking for gaps between different test cases and helping us to ensure that new features are comprehensively covered from a testing perspective.
  • Once a project is complete and ready to be deployed, you'll manually verify – using the agreed test scenarios – the outcome of all new functionality. You'll support the development team as the piece of functionality is placed into production, and perform sanity checks on deployed software, quickly feeding back to the team on any issues found.
  • A large part of the role is ensuring you always stay in close contact with the Development team. You'll liaise with our engineers both during and after production, identifying potential or existing problems and helping to resolve feature issues.
  • You'll also be responsible for managing your own workload, whilst being aware of the general responsibilities and priorities of the whole QA team. You'll use Jira to effectively manage your time and track your tasks, whilst collaborating closely with other members of the team to ensure all work is covered.
  • We're an Agile team and you'll be expected to work in this environment, attending daily stand-ups and being involved in ceremonies throughout the end-to-end software development lifecycle. This will include both sprint planning and retros.
  • Longer term, after we reduce the backlog of manual work, you’ll be expected to work with senior QAs and our development team to help us expand the automation test coverage. As a result, you will be given time to learn automation tools such as Selenium and SpecFlow.

What we need from you

  • You'll be a QA Analyst working to ensure the quality of a technical product or platform. Therefore, you will be able to talk us through where you entered in the testing lifecycle and what you were specifically responsible for testing.
  • You will possess a high level of attention to detail and be able to describe how you used this to suggest improvements or pick up faults within your previous role or projects.
  • You'll have confidence communicating with various stakeholders, having the ability to explain technical concepts in relation to your testing activities.
  • You will have experience working under pressure where prioritisation was key to your delivery. At interview we would love to hear an example of how you prioritised your workload to manage a high-pressure situation.
  • You will also be able to stand your ground, listening to others' opinions but still being able to push back and respectfully disagree where you feel it's necessary. We'd love to hear about a time you had to push back to a colleague, how you proceeded and what the result was.
  • Culture and values are equally as important to us as technical ability. You will be goal-oriented, with the confidence and competence to explain the motivations behind decisions you have made in your career to date.
  • You will be passionate about technology and a career in testing. You will be able to provide examples of different technologies or tools that you have researched in your own time.
  • Additionally, our team’s respectfulness and responsiveness allow us to embrace the benefits of teamwork, coming together to solve problems and share knowledge. This will include going above and beyond to deliver not just for our customers but also for fellow team members. We will be interested to hear how you have applied similar values in the past.
  • Lastly, you will be open and transparent, looking to learn from others where possible, with the ability to take accountability for your responsibility in the failure of a task/project. We will be looking to hear about a project that has not gone to plan and how you handled the situation.
