Job Description

POPSUGAR is looking for an experienced Senior SEO Editor to join our growing SEO editorial team. This person will be responsible for analyzing, reviewing, and advising content and page rank strategies for POPSUGAR content to translate into network strategy. Working closely with the Managing Editor, you will oversee all SEO strategy, best practices, and projects focused on search traffic growth (content and product). We will look to you to make specific recommendations to the editorial team for new content assignments and strategic updates of existing content, based on keyword research and analysis, across the network to increase search traffic and page rankings. Our Senior SEO Editor will also guide and implement specific SEO strategies for seasonal events, holidays, and tentpoles. Success in this role will be measured based on ability to improve SERP rankings and increase traffic coming from search to POPSUGAR.com over time. 

Responsibilities:

  • Leads network SEO strategy and reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Identifies new areas for opportunity across the network based on keyword analysis and research, using Ahrefs, SEMRush, Google Analytics, Google Search Console and other tools as needed.
  • Oversees update of PS content archive and makes recommendations for strategic updates on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Manages two assistant editors who will assist with content creation, SEO editing and review, and special SEO projects as needed.
  • Pitches content ideas to site leads, POPSUGAR Voices team, and editorial staff as needed on a weekly basis.
  • Works with Managing Editor on outlining best practices for editors to follow, and provides quarterly trainings with editorial staff to improve SEO strategy and improve inefficiencies.
  • Reviews and edits SEO-intended content as needed to ensure content is meeting best practices.
  • Collaborates with engineers, insights team, and editors on all SEO tool needs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product management/online publishing, or related field 
  • Excellent writing, editing and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to increase search traffic and SERP rankings
  • Experience with SEO tools, specifically Ahrefs, SEMRush, Google Search Console, and Google Analytics (or equivalent)
  • Ability to translate site data into actionable content direction 
  • Familiarity with web traffic trends and environment 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
  • Experience working and managing a team
  • Ability to stay ahead of trends and adapt to a constantly changing digital landscape 
  • Advanced Analytics and HTML skills
