Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize inspections according to their due dates
  • Collect and analyze production samples to evaluate quality
  • Read blueprints, data, manuals, or other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment methods, certification processes, formulas, or measuring instruments required
  • Conducts visual and measurement tests; rejects unacceptable work/parts
  • Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required actions to Shop Manager
  • Approves or rejects finished products by confirming dimensions with the customer’s print
  • Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using various measuring instruments such as digital height gauge, calipers, or micrometers
  • Document inspection or test data, such as dimensions and quantities inspected or graded describing results, recommendations, or needed rework
  • Mark items with details such as grade or acceptance-rejection status
  • Instruct staff in quality control issues
  • Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; request needed repairs
  • Report rejected products, materials, or equipment not meeting specifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience inspecting machined components, proficient in using modern metrology equipment and be skilled in reading and interpreting machined parts drawings
  • CNC programming experience helpful
  • Good computer skills
  • Proficient using mechanical measuring equipment i.e., Micrometers, calipers, height gauges etc.
  • Must be able to perform FAI’s and reports
  • Must be capable of efficiently performing in process, and final inspections on machined components with high accuracy
