Job Description

The Electro-Mechanical, Designer / Detailer will be a key member of the product development team developing LiDAR systems. You will be expected to have a comprehensive design process and the ability to perform CAD design tasks.

The candidate will develop precision electro-mechanical/opto-mechanical components, sub-systems and systems from concept to high-volume production. This team member will evaluate and recommend design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or services. The candidate shall also be able to work within a broader program team and be able to manage multiple activities while communicating across functional boundaries to solve problems and achieve common goals.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform the CAD design and coordinate from engineering into production Developing products to automotive standards and qualification methods
  • Provide design integration for harnesses and PCB's 
  • Design and development of LIDAR and sensor systems
  • Daily engagement with all other engineering disciplines, NPI, quality, and commodity management
  • Coordinate and support analysis including structural, thermal, and statistical tolerance 
  • Coordinate engineering changes with manufacturing 
  • Report progress and status to engineering and management staff
  • Produce documentation to industry standards
  • Independently manage schedule

Minimum Qualifications

  • Wide breadth of design experience utilizing many different materials and fabrication processes including but not limited to plastic injection molding, or die casting
  • Minimum of 5 years of CAD experience with SolidWorks, Catia, Creo or NX
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience participating in design activities with multiple team members
  • Associates degree with engineering discipline or industry design experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with designing wire harnesses or PCBs
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM field
  • Familiarity with IATF 16949
  • Automotive OEM or Tier 1 experience
  • Experience with sensor design
  • Experience with SolidWorks PDM Professional vault
  • Opto-mechanical and electrical design experience
  • Demonstrated design for six sigma (DFSS) experience
