Job Description

The Sales & Marketing Support manager provides alignment between the sales training, marketing content, enablement processes, practices, and tools needed to support salespeople throughout the buyer’s journey. This includes working collaboratively with sales, marketing, partners, and other key stakeholders to increase sales results and productivity. Additionally, this role will be responsible for measuring the training, assets, and campaign effectiveness both for sales and marketing through a “lead to customer” perspective. The Sales & Marketing Support leader will help both the CMO and CRO really understand what the return on sales and marketing investments are, including reporting and dashboard development and implementation.

An “average” day might involve creating or refining new sales training content for an upcoming product launch, facilitating sales rep skills training on new messaging or product launches, leading a formal or informal training session, planning sales kickoff, or implementing a new technology platform – just to name a few activities.

While “Sales & Marketing Support manager” might be the most common support job title out there, it’s also far from the only one.

  • Facilitation of alignment: As many revenue-facing teams experience a natural gap between them, the Sales & Marketing Support manager often serves as the connective tissue that holds them together. It is often the duty of the Sales & Marketing Support manager to gather insights and collaborate with cross-functional teams in order to execute initiatives that improve upon existing sales processes, create and improve learning paths, and ultimately align these processes and learning paths to broader company goals.
  • Evaluation of metrics and impact: Prudence in tracking Sales & Marketing Support metrics and KPIs is vital to the growth and success of the Sales & Marketing Support function they manage. Being able to demonstrate the business impact of their support efforts can lead to stakeholder buy-in and support for future endeavors, while also establishing trust between the revenue-facing teams they serve.


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Sales & Marketing Support, revenue-facing roles, sales training, or Sales & Marketing Support, and a demonstrated knowledge of best practices, methodologies, and technologies in each of these areas
  • Measurable experience with having a positive impact on business outcomes, such as win rate, quota attainment, length of sales cycle, etc.
  • Experience in executing change management initiatives with established approaches
  • Involvement and participation in Sales & Marketing Support groups or communities (ideal)
  • experience in building reporting and dashboards
  • Familiarity with Meddic or similar sales methodologies
  • Working in cross-functional teams with marketing, sales and products teams to ensure launches are executed successfully with internal communications and readiness
  • Some budgeting/finance experience would be good to support and evaluate ROI
  • Familiarity with functional capabilities of Drift, SalesLoft, Gainsight and
  • Surface key metrics for the business from a day to day and strategic perspective
  • Support building (including writing) and executing internal programs for enablement, aligned across all functions of the company
