POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for a Process Engineer to join our R&D team in Milpitas. Our team focuses on development and engineering of thin-film stack and glass lamination processes that result in our electrochromic device. As a Process Engineer, you will participate in the development of thin-films and glass lamination processes for the next generation products. Furthermore, you are expected to identify and characterize the various polymeric materials that could be used as interlayers and the associated mechanisms governing the desired properties such as adhesion or durability of the finished laminates. At View, we have a strong emphasis on statistics-driven methods for experimental design and data analysis. You will be working closely with the team that assesses product durability and work directly with the technology team at our production facility in Olive Branch, MS to transfer the process into high-volume manufacturing.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Investigation of polymeric materials to serve as interlayers with an emphasis on mechanisms, material characterization and deployment.
  • Development and optimization of glass lamination processes.
  • Metrology development for laminates.
  • Interface with Operations and Durability teams on the fabrication and testing aspects.
  • Interface with the Production team on process transfer.
  • Interact and coordinate with new and existing material suppliers to ensure component compatibility, quality and performance.

DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Expertise in Glass Lamination is required.
  • Proficiency in typical thin-film materials characterization techniques is required.
  • Working knowledge of Sputter Deposition process is a plus.
  • Familiarity with statistical data analysis methods (SPC, DOE, ANOVA) is strongly preferred; working knowledge of JMP is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Travel up to 30%

 EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

  • MS or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or Polymer Chemistry
  • 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: architectural glass, flat panel display, solar, or similar industries
