About Burrow

Burrow is an innovative new furniture company reinventing the way people furnish their home.

Job Description

Burrow is seeking a Creative Director who lives to create compelling stories for strong brands with a passionate team. You will be responsible for concepting and executing programs across our website, social media, stores, events, video, print, OOH, email, and more, as you push the brand forward and position Burrow as a leader in the home category. You are comfortable telling brand and product stories using video, motion graphics, photography, graphic design, and copy, and know best when and how to use each medium for cross-channel communications. You can balance creative vision with business purpose, drive strategy, and have ambitious goals but work scrappy when necessary.

Day-to-day Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a high-potential internal creative team, reviewing and approving work at key stages of each project.
  • Enthusiastically deliver high-performing, brand-enhancing creative, communications and experiences across various platforms and mediums including web, stores, social, television, direct mail, print and digital advertising in a fast-paced, quick-turnaround environment.
  • Lead the conceptualizing, direction, and approval of all creative content and assets: meaning photography, videography, and audio production; partnering with producers, photographers, stylists, retouchers, and video editors; ensuring execution aligns with concept and overseeing the reliable delivery of final assets.
  • Act as steward of our brand integrity, guiding the team on how to communicate our brand effectively across every touchpoint with our customers and every medium we communicate through.
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking and the ability to translate consumer research and insights into effective creative strategies, messages, and designs.
  • Define and continually improve our creative process and the creative team's work from start to finish by managing project flow and prioritization.
  • Encourage everyone to own their part in online project management and collaboration tools (Hive, Dropbox & Dropbox Paper, Figma) and lead with tech and systems savviness.
  • Direct the complete brand digital ecosystem, from content direction and production to UX/UI design, creating a seamless, end-to-end experience for our customers, from the first ad they see to post-purchase experience and beyond.
  • Elevate our in-person experience, from physical store design direction to collateral and messaging.
  • Bring passion and innovation to every project; strive for continuous improvement and never become satisfied with the status quo.
  • Be the steady leader that exemplifies the best behaviors of an entrepreneurial environment: hardworking with a "no task is too small" attitude, cool under pressure, and clear communication in uncertainty.

  • 10+ years of experience in brand creative direction (including 5+ years in a creative leadership role), with an emphasis in art direction and design, ideally with a mix of agency and in-house experience.
  • 6-10 years of eCommerce or multi-channel (including retail) experience. Development of ads and video for digital channels required.
  • Have a deep passion and curiosity for all things digital and social.
  • BFA or higher in Interactive/Graphic Design or similar area of study.
  • Social media expert with a keen eye for developing trailblazing, compelling content and an awareness of emerging platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work well in a highly collaborative environment while staying on task and respecting budget constraints.
  • Ability to meet hard deadlines and manage multiple projects while still producing high-quality work.
  • A great attitude and expertise in solving creative problems.
  • Experience with home goods, retail, or eCommerce brands and business models a plus.

You in a nutshell

  • As a leader, you are flexible, enterprising, collaborative, and highly tolerant of ambiguity, complexity, and occasional lack of existing processes or structure in an early-stage start-up environment.
  • Demonstrate utmost level of professionalism.
  • Naturally build professional trust with key stakeholders and within own department.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop people, provide meaningful feedback, and manage performance.
  • Alignment with our core values: Collaboration, Innovation, & Customer Experience
